Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Since our kids have grown up, I admittedly don’t take a lot of video anymore. Mostly because my wife and I can be only so entertaining on camera by ourselves. So any video I capture these days is an on-the-spot thought and through the lens of my smartphone. The quality is acceptable but really flat. Yet there are always things I see that I want to capture. And for the past few years – instead of photographing something directly – I’ve often taken video instead and then gone through frame-by-frame to pick the best image to use as a photo. But the quality is often degraded, when I do that. Not anymore. I’ve gotten hold of the GoPro HERO10 Black Creator Edition – billed as an all-in-one content capturing powerhouse that makes vlogging, filmmaking and live streaming easier than ever. This system features pro-quality 5.3K video, Emmy award-winning HyperSmooth 4.0 video stabilization, enhanced audio, LED lighting and four hours … [Read more...] about GoPro HERO 10 Is A Sleek Modern-Day Handycam

Biden says ‘hello’ to N.Korea’s Kim amid tensions over weapons tests
US President Joe Biden (Reuters filepix by Evelyn Hockstein) - A + A SEOUL (May 22): US President Joe Biden, in Seoul before heading to Japan as part of his first Asia trip as president, had a simple message for North Korea's Kim Jong Un: "Hello... period," he told reporters on the last day of his visit to South Korea on Sunday. Biden said he was "not concerned" about new North Korean nuclear tests, which would be the first in nearly five years. But his wry response when asked what message he had for Kim underscored the administration's low-key approach to the unresolved tensions with North Korea. It is a stark contrast with former President Donald Trump's showy threats, summits, and "love letters" with Kim. Neither president's approach has led to a major breakthrough, however, and North Korea has resumed testing its largest intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), while intelligence reports suggest it is preparing for a new nuclear test. “We are … [Read more...] about Biden says ‘hello’ to N.Korea’s Kim amid tensions over weapons tests

Imported food prices surge and may continue rising
An employee displays imported meat packs at a mart at Eungam-dong, northern Seoul, in December. [NEWS1] Imported food prices are soaring as China locks down, the Ukraine-Russia conflict drags on and the United States deals with labor shortages. Beef imported from the United States or Australia is considered a cheaper alternative to hanwoo , or Korean beef, which is almost twice the price of Australian beef at discount marts. But experts forecast the gap between the local and imported meat prices will be much narrower if the current trend continues. China's lockdown of Shanghai has strained global supply chains, while the United States, a major meat exporter, is struggling with labor shortages at livestock farms. U.S. beef ribs retailed at 3,765 won ($3.1) per 100 grams Wednesday, up 53 percent from the previous year's average of 2,454 won, according to the Korea Agricultural Marketing Information Service run by Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation. Turning 75 this year, the world's leading film gathering knew it needed a shot of youth and made TikTok an official sponsor. That has brought some of the video platform's biggest stars to the French Riviera -- including Italian-Senegalese sensation Khaby Lame and his 139 million followers -- inevitably breaking the festival's usual taboo against selfies on the red carpet. TikTok has also sponsored a short film competition, with prizes awarded by a jury of film professionals, as well as Lame. "You might think that three minutes is short, but we really tried to judge them just as we would a film of 120 … [Read more...] about How to TikTok your way to a prize at the Cannes Film Festival
Joe Biden tendng to business in South Korea visit with Hyundai exec
SEOUL, South Korea — President Joe Biden is tending to both business and security interests Sunday as he wraps up a three-day visit to South Korea, showcasing Hyundai’s pledge to build a $5.5 billion electric vehicle and battery factory in Georgia and visiting U.S. and South Korean troops monitoring the rapidly evolving North Korean nuclear threat. The major U.S. investment by a South Korean company, which was formally unveiled in Georgia on Friday, is a reflection of how the U.S. and South Korea are leveraging their longstanding military ties into a broader economic partnership. The U.S. president has made greater economic cooperation with South Korea a priority, saying on Saturday that “it will bring our two countries even closer together, cooperating even more closely than we already do, and help strengthen our supply chains, secure them against shocks and give our economies a competitive edge.” The pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February has forced a deeper … [Read more...] about Joe Biden tendng to business in South Korea visit with Hyundai exec
Jeepney strike: Schools, gov’t offices closed
2-DAY STRIKE Jeepney drivers are starting a two-day transport strike starting today to oppose the government’s modernization plan for public utility vehicles. —MARIANNE BERMUDEZ Suspending work and classes nationwide today, Monday, shows that Malacañang “is nervous” about the two-day transport strike protesting a program phasing out jeepneys at least 15 years old, the leader of the mass action said on Sunday. Already, the Land Registration Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said the mass action could be part of destabilization efforts. “We are receiving reports that the transport strike tomorrow led by Piston (Pinagkaisang Samahan ng Tsuper and Operator Nationwide) will be supported by other left-leaning groups. Allegedly, the plot is to destabilize the government,” an LTFRB board member, Aileen Lizada, said on the eve of the strike. Piston claims 200,000 members nationwide. The New Virtual Economy Of The Metaverse
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Michel Kilzi is a serial entrepreneur, data intelligence expert with a vision to redefine the role of data as an asset. If there’s one thing that’s the talk of the town today, it’s the metaverse. A blend of virtual reality, augmented reality, sensorial tech and spatial computing, the metaverse promises to give us new experiences from our couches or cubicles. But the metaverse is not just some gaming space, sci-fi dream come true. Nor is it limited to tech companies—it is an entirely new economy. Even traditional firms, including restaurants like McDonald's and retailers like Nike , are preparing for the metaverse to become a space where you’ll be able to go shopping, play games, meet friends, attend concerts, work and generally build a virtual life. Since the metaverse is still in its infancy, there is no clear path to profitability for most businesses; everyone is scrambling to strike gold first. Peloton Stock Is Cheap Given Its Solid Subscription Business
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Peloton’s stock has seen another sell-off, falling by around 40% over the last month, as surging inflation, rising interest rates, and the prospect of a recession continued to turn investors away from growth stocks and pandemic favorites. Moreover, Peloton’s Q3 FY’22 earnings were weaker than expected, with revenue declining to $964.3 million from $1.26 billion a year ago, as demand for at-home fitness equipment cooled considerably. This marked Peloton’s first year-over-year revenue decline since it went public. Peloton’s poor planning didn’t help either, as inventory has piled up, eating into the company’s cash just as sales fell. Net losses also widened to $2.27 per share, from about $0.03 a year earlier. Things are expected to remain tough over Q4 FY’22 as well, with the company projecting revenue of between $675 million and $700 million, well below consensus estimates, marking a decline of as much as 29% from the same quarter … [Read more...] about Peloton Stock Is Cheap Given Its Solid Subscription Business
The Coming Global Recession, Helped By Europe’s ‘Green War’ With Russia
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The “adults” are back in charge. They’ve given us another war without end, a commodity crisis , and a supply chain crisis. What’s next? A global recession? Markets are a total mess , with Walmart WMT tanking 10% in one trading session on May 18. The last time that happened was the stock market crash of October 1987. Inflation, thanks to unpresented money printing and Universal Basic Income test- drives during an unprecedented China-style lockdown of the U.S. economy in 2020—2021, is now eroding living standards. It’s global. The U.K. inflation print on May 18 was 9%. How transitory is this? If Europe keeps the pressure on commodities in its economic war with Russia, then the answer is – as long as Europe and Russia are sanctioning each other to smithereens. As I predicted here back in February, before the Russian siege of Mariupol, and before much of the Donbas region fell to Russian … [Read more...] about The Coming Global Recession, Helped By Europe’s ‘Green War’ With Russia
