Female Students Sue Sorority For Admitting Biological Male Who Allegedly Gets Aroused Watching Women Undress
Sorority sisters are suing the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) sisterhood for admitting a male University of Wyoming student, according to a complaint. KKG admitted biological male Artemis Langford, its first transgender-identifying member, into its ranks in Oct. 2022. Guidelines set by the National Panhellenic Council define a sorority as a “single-gender organization comprised of women and individuals who identify as women” while leaving admission decisions up to individual chapters. “I feel so glad to be in a place that I think not only shares my values, but to be in a sisterhood of awesome women that want to make history,” Langford said at the time, according to Branding Iron . “They want to break the glass ceiling, trailblazing you know, and I certainly feel that as their first trans member, at least in the chapter in Wyoming history.” (RELATED: REPORT: Drag Queen Who Simulated Sexual Act On A Bar Of Soap Sells Out Story Hour Put On By Children’s Bookstore) A complaint … [Read more...] about Female Students Sue Sorority For Admitting Biological Male Who Allegedly Gets Aroused Watching Women Undress

Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz mocked Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry for defending billionaires who fly private jets to climate change summits. “Look, I gotta say, John Kerry embodies the rich out-of-touch contempt that today’s left has for working men and women,” Cruz said in the Monday episode of his podcast, “ Verdict with Ted Cruz .” (RELATED: ‘Disgraceful’: Ted Cruz Rips Into Biden’s DHS Secretary For Refusing To Say There’s A Border Crisis) “So if John Kerry believes what he’s saying, it means when John Kerry puts his privileged derriere on a private jet, he is destroying planet Earth and simply buying an indulgence of, ‘well, I sent a check to somebody else.’ It fixes it. Click here to get on the newsletter list ! I t started in tech. But could it be spreading beyond Silicon Valley and startup world to other major mainstream firms? I’m speaking of the “ rolling layoff ”—the name one former human resources executive gave to describe companies making job cuts in a series of rounds, rather than executing them all at one time. Disney said Monday it plans to cut 7,000 employees starting this week, my colleague Brian Bushard reported . “A second, larger round of notifications will happen in April with several thousand more staff reductions, and we expect to commence the final round of notifications before the beginning of the summer to reach our 7,000-job target,” … [Read more...] about The New Reality Of ‘Rolling Layoffs,’ AI’s Impact On Jobs And The Worst Email Sign-Offs
What Does It Mean To Say A Medical Test Is ‘Sensitive’ Or ‘Specific’?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Q: What do American radar operators in World War II have in common with modern day patients trying to decide if a whole body MRI scan is worth the money? A: Both have to be concerned if a blurry dot on a screen might indicate something serious that needs to be dealt with. In the case of the wartime radar operators, a critical issue was deciding if a “blip” on the screen represented an enemy aircraft, a friendly plane, or just noise. Ideally, a radar system (which includes both the electronic hardware and the human operator) would correctly identify incoming enemy aircraft, while avoiding the twin errors of a false alarm (mistakenly reporting an enemy plane when there wasn’t one) or a miss (failing to detect an enemy aircraft when there actually was one.) A similar issue arises with any form of medical testing — for example, an MRI image, a home Covid-19 test to detect active infection or a screening mammogram to … [Read more...] about What Does It Mean To Say A Medical Test Is ‘Sensitive’ Or ‘Specific’?

How skilled teams from emerging markets can change the face of tech
Before Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, the billionaire made headlines for ordering Tesla employees to return to the office at least 40 hours a week. Google and Apple followed suit not long after, demanding at least three days in the office per week. The companies defended their decision by citing a loss of social capital when employees primarily work from home. Things like training junior employees, in-person team meetings, and serendipitous teamwork, they argue, simply can’t be had in remote work environments. To some extent and depending on the company and work, it could certainly be true that companies lose a degree of social capital if they operate fully remotely. But that’s probably mostly because remote work as a company policy is such a new phenomenon that most executives simply haven’t had the time to adapt work flows and procedures to maximize productivity and ensure there isn’t social-capital leakage. The expansion in remote and hybrid work offers so many … [Read more...] about How skilled teams from emerging markets can change the face of tech
