Sleet and freezing rain is expected after 1 a.m., with a winter weather advisory in effect until 1 p.m. The precipitation will freeze until temperatures slowly warm up to a high of 37 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. But a second round is predicted for Wednesday night into Thursday morning. That storm is expected to produce a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation before the air warms to a forecast high of 47 degrees, as metro Detroit copes with the weather roller coaster. With a snowstorm expected to hit much of the Front Range beginning Monday night and into Tuesday, AAA Colorado provided winter-weather tips for drivers, including advice on packing an emergency kit to keep in the car.During a storm, drivers most often call AAA Colorado about dead batteries or crashes resulting from treadless or under-inflated tires.Before leaving home, drivers should check Colorado Department of Transportation's website at cotrip.org for up-to-date information on road conditions."It doesn't matter what kind of car you drive. In month of November alone, 37 people died and a further 1,437 were injured in traffic accidents, making it the deadliest November on the roads since 2003. Altogether in the first 11 months of 2018, a total of 287 died in road accidents, figures from the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) show. That's a significant increase from the whole of the previous year, when 224 people died. In 1997, Sweden introduced a road safety policy named Vision Zero with the long-term aim of cutting fatal accidents to zero by 2020. The target was that by 2007, there would be no more than 270 road traffic deaths, but this target wasn't reached, with almost 500 people dying that year. However, there has been an overall drop in road traffic deaths over the past decade, with the figure for 2013 and 2015 the lowest since the Second World War. Van and truck drivers are being warned to make sure their tyres are fit for winter conditions amid fears of increased accidents on icy roads. Drivers are 20 per cent more likely to suffer a road accident during the winter months, says commercial vehicle leasing firm LeaseVan.co.uk.
