Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Honor is better-known for its phones than headphones, but it has made a pair with a striking resemblance to the Apple AirPods Pro , the Earbuds 3 Pro. They cost significantly less than Apple's earphones. But they are not flat-out cheap, so can they compete? In a surprise result, the Honor EarBuds 3 Pro sound better than the AirPods Pro in some, but not all, senses. Let’s break it down to see if these might be a viable alternative to the biggest name in true wireless sound. Design and battery life These two pairs of earphones look similar. The Honor set’s similarities are flat-out shameless in some areas, such as the band of silver on the back of the otherwise all-white charging case. The shape Apple uses for the back of each earpiece is smoother, but you can't mistake how much of an AirPod Pro-inspired design the Earbuds 3 Pro’s is. And that's putting it mildly. These are both very comfortable … [Read more...] about Apple AirPods Pro Vs Honor Earbuds 3 Pro

New Survey Shows Nearly 1/4 Of Young Hispanic Women May Change Birth Control Due To Abortion Restrictions
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The impact of last year’s United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade continues to ripple across society. Advocates warn that the decision will disproportionately affect young people who may not have the means to travel the many miles they may need to for a legal abortion. Now, a new survey of 400 young adults quantifies the influence the Supreme Court’s decision may be having on Hispanic GenZers. The survey was conducted by Chispa , a dating app for U.S.-based Latinos, in partnership with the Center for Multicultural Science , a nonprofit, non-partisan think tank focused on multicultural marketing research. Respondents were drawn from a nationally representative sample of Hispanic college students aged 18 to 24. The survey found that nearly one-third (29%) of young people surveyed reported having less casual sex because of the Supreme Court’s decision and 23% said they’ve changed their … [Read more...] about New Survey Shows Nearly 1/4 Of Young Hispanic Women May Change Birth Control Due To Abortion Restrictions
TBD Health Raises $4.4 Million In Seed Funding To Democratize Access To Inclusive Sexual Care
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Stigma is one of the most under-addressed social determinants of health that can seriously impact the way that patients think about prioritizing their health needs and their care-seeking behavior. As a society, sexual practices are constantly evolving and so should our sexual healthcare with it. By not talking about it or making it shameful to talk about sex, and due to the pervasive lack of adequate sex education, we create a climate where people are under-informed or misinformed about their sexual health and what resources are available to them. While there are certainly fantastic providers specially trained in sexual health, there are many more that are uncomfortable talking to their patients about sex. A recent study has shown that although “sexual health is generally considered an integral part of medical and allied healthcare professional training, many medical schools do not offer this as a mandatory curriculum, or … [Read more...] about TBD Health Raises $4.4 Million In Seed Funding To Democratize Access To Inclusive Sexual Care
Curtain raiser | Sundance 2023: Screen time for India’s fears and frustrations
Indians showcase at Sundance Film Festival 2023. (Photos courtesy of Sundance Institute) If India's forthcoming run at Sundance 2023 had a theme, it would probably be the wilderness. Elephants, fish, white ants, and nocturnal beasts mark the stories featuring the country that will make their debut at the Utah-based film festival. Sundance platforms independent dramatic features and documentaries and brings some of the first international film showings of the calendar year. Titles that premiere there contend with the most troubling questions of the present moment. Indian filmmakers have regularly taken their work to the festival, particularly after the Sundance Institute began organising screenwriters and directors’ labs in the region. Such interactions have helped produce films including Margarita with a Straw (2014), Lunchbox (2015), and Fire in the Mountains (2021). Of documentary, episodes, and shorts Sundance Film Festival is biggest film festival to start … [Read more...] about Curtain raiser | Sundance 2023: Screen time for India’s fears and frustrations
How just a 5-minute mentorship session can advance your career
We entered January with all sorts of promises and resolutions—and the enthusiasm of a thousand Labrador puppies. But alas, reality has already set in. Our calendars have filled up, and our eyes are still glazing over from staring at our screens for eight hours straight. So, how can we possibly find the time to think about and advance our careers, let alone help others, when the daily hustle-bustle of life gets in the way. Where, exactly, are we headed in this journey? And who can help us get there? The right mentor or mentors can be key to making our life roadmap more legible. Finding someone who can guide you for the long haul is not always realistic. So, instead of taking an “I’ll join a gym this year” approach to a mentorship, where things start off great but fizzle out by March, it’s time to lower the barriers while increasing the results with something new. As National Mentoring Month draws to a close today, I give you the micro-mentorship. It’s not a term or an idea … [Read more...] about How just a 5-minute mentorship session can advance your career

Digital Advertising Benchmarks 2020. What’s A Good Click Rate?
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin I’ve been asked continuously over the last twenty years “what’s a good click through rate, bounce rate, time on site, etc.” and more recently, “what’s a good IVT (invalid traffic) rate?” My answer has always been that industry wide digital advertising benchmarks are meaningless because they are not actionable, even though it is very tempting to compare yourself to them. Let me explain why. Comparing Apples to Oranges Let’s take simple things like bounce rates, time on site, and number of pages per session; all of these are readily available in Google Analytics. A “good” bounce rate, time on site, and number of pages per session is entirely different depending on the nature of the site or the industry vertical to which it belongs. For example, for a medical journal site, doctors come to read one article to get answers they need at that moment; and then they leave. The number of pages for that session may be one page … [Read more...] about Digital Advertising Benchmarks 2020. What’s A Good Click Rate?
Crazy Rich Asians And The World That’s Their Oyster
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin An over-the-top wedding scene in an over-the-top movie. Alamy Even many of the favorable reviewers of the hit movie Crazy Rich Asians concede it is familiar romantic-comedy fare from Hollywood, save for the faces. Yet therein lies the basis of a cultural moment, as Asian characters assume mainstream roles for a largely Western audience. Of direct interest to Forbes Asia readers is the backdrop of the story (earlier a book by Kevin Kwan): the tussle between traditional and modern mores in an extremely wealthy Singaporean Chinese family. Of course this film is an entertaining caricature, although I trust it inspires conjectured likenesses to real clans. Singapore itself appears in several glam cameos. The vast fictional fortune itself, however, popularizes what we have been reporting for years: the Asia-Pacific region's extraordinary personal riches. If this cinematic staple is nevertheless a breakthrough on the … [Read more...] about Crazy Rich Asians And The World That’s Their Oyster
