ALFREDO ORTIZ: Sunny Jobs Report Hides The Ugly Truth About Biden’s Economy
Is there more to the monthly Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report than meets the eye? Consider: In a Christmas news dump that Americans mostly missed, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia revised down the BLS’s estimated job growth for the second quarter of 2022 by more than one million. The BLS calculated that 1,121,500 jobs were created over this period, while the Philly Fed found that the economy added just 10,500 jobs. Reuters called this massive labor market discrepancy “a conundrum.” Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) accused the BLS of cooking the books to boost Biden. (RELATED: BETSY MCCAUGHEY: Spendaholic Politicians Are Taking A Sledgehammer To Your Economic Future) I’m reminded of these divergent analyses with today’s blockbuster BLS jobs report concluding 517,000 jobs were created in January, drubbing the 188,000 expectation. How did the economy create one of its highest numbers of monthly new jobs over the last couple of years at the same time tech companies were … [Read more...] about ALFREDO ORTIZ: Sunny Jobs Report Hides The Ugly Truth About Biden’s Economy

How Fashion Concept Shop, Curio, Became Miami’s Most Desirable Shopping Destination
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There’s a saying that says hard work + timing + talent = success. Sometimes, luck is even thrown into that equation. It’s clear that for the founders of Curio, the Miami-based high-fashion concept store, Danielle Licata and Jeffrey Lasota, they not only have all the ingredients for the recipe for success, but they have made one heck of a smorgasbord out of it. The duo launched Curio in the Faena Bazaar in December of 2019, literally moments before the pandemic gripped the world. For that reason alone the curated retail experience had every reason to fail. Curio entered the market as a high-end retail concept the size of a small department store which launched within a climate where e-commerce was pinned against brick and mortar. And then, the world was hit with the most catastrophic global event in recent history. At this point, the odds did not look good for the founders, but unbeknownst to them at that moment, timing was … [Read more...] about How Fashion Concept Shop, Curio, Became Miami’s Most Desirable Shopping Destination
Old Pension Scheme not a gamechanger for 2023 assembly polls or 2024 Lok Sabha elections
It would be too simplistic to assume that the demand for Old Pension Scheme would be the central issue on which the state elections of 2023 and the Lok Sabha election of 2024 would be contested. In a surprise shift, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has said the state government is “not negative” about the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Earlier he had expressed his opposition to the OPS in the Maharashtra assembly. With the Maharashtra legislative council elections delivering an adverse result to the state government, will it rethink its position? Meanwhile, reports also indicate that Congress in Karnataka is seriously considering reintroduction of the OPS as a key poll promise for its 2023 election campaign. Why OPS Gained Steam Evidence does indicate that the Congress party promise of restoration of the OPS (if returned to office) did help the party in winning the assembly election in Himachal Pradesh (HP). But it would be an overstatement to say that … [Read more...] about Old Pension Scheme not a gamechanger for 2023 assembly polls or 2024 Lok Sabha elections
‘All Hell’s Going To Break Loose’: Jordan Peterson Predicts Dire Consequences For Hospitals Transitioning Children
Clinical psychologist and author Jordan Peterson on Wednesday predicted dire consequences will arise for hospitals that perform gender transition procedures on children. Peterson argued hospitals conducting sex reassignment surgeries on children will backfire because medical professionals do not properly evaluate youth who identify as transgender . He said the U.S. has not accepted “all hell’s going to break loose” in the near future. “They figured out, in the U.K., that the rates of transgender— transformation requests were skyrocketing,” he told podcaster Joe Rogan. “And even the people at the clinic knew that they were rushing people along the transformation pipeline way faster than they should’ve without proper clinical evaluation … We’re still where the U.K. was three or four years ago. We haven’t woken up to the fact that all hell’s going to break loose on this front.” “It’s absolutely appalling,” he continued. Peterson argued 90% of children who identify as … [Read more...] about ‘All Hell’s Going To Break Loose’: Jordan Peterson Predicts Dire Consequences For Hospitals Transitioning Children
UNICEF Responds To Cholera Emergency In Malawi
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin UNICEF is moving fast to scale up support of Malawi's response to the country's massive cholera outbreak as more and more people fall sick and die. As of Jan. 22, UNICEF reported , 960 people had died — including 144 children. Registered cases have exceeded 29,000 since March 2022, with children representing 35 percent of the total. UNICEF has been shipping emergency medical, sanitation and hygiene supplies to the country and helping communities implement prevention measures to contain the spread. When a year-end surge in cholera cases prompted schools in the cities of Lilongwe and Blantyre to close, classrooms were able to reopen with UNICEF's support after two weeks. Malawi's cholera outbreak is a "threat to the health and well-being of children," UNICEF Malawi Representative Rudolf Schwenk said. Dillon Brooks, Donovan Mitchell Ejected After Throwing Ball At Grizzlies’ Wing
(CTN News) – Over the last few seasons, Dillon Brooks has gained a bit of a reputation for being one of the more aggressive players on the team. It is well known that the Memphis Grizzlies winger was ejected from a playoff game during the last postseason for a cheap shot he committed against Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II, and on Thursday, he was involved in an altercation with another opposing player. Another Cleveland Cavaliers player, Donovan Mitchell, was the one to get hit by the ball this time. When Dillon Brooks was preparing to make a layup in the third quarter with just under six minutes remaining in the game, Evan Mobley stepped in and altered Dillon Brooks’ attempt. He ended up wandering out of bounds. Mitchell was trying to save the ball by grabbing it with his hands, but Dillon Brooks, who was on the ground, hit him in the groin with the ball. There was a fight between the two teams as Mitchell tossed the ball off Brooks, who was still … [Read more...] about Dillon Brooks, Donovan Mitchell Ejected After Throwing Ball At Grizzlies’ Wing
