The National Assembly’s regular audit of the Blue House was botched after the Blue House refused to send seven presidential aides to the session Thursday. The presidential office cited several reasons, including the need to quarantine an official after a trip overseas. However, its abrupt refusal constitutes a brazen disrespect for the legislature. The almighty Blue House of President Moon Jae-in’s administration has left another bad precedent in the National Assembly’s history. A 49-year-old Canadian woman has been killed when she and her bicycle were struck by a speeding pickup truck in central Thailand on Saturday. Kanchanaburi Muang police said on Saturday that Mrs. Marnie Scott, 49, from Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada died at the scene of the accident. Police and a doctor from Kanchanaburi’s Paholpolpayuhasena Hospital pronounced her dead at the scene. Mrs. Marnie Scott was hit by a speeding pickup as she was changing lanes on the ring road in preparation for a U-turn, police said. Her husband Joseph, 50 a retired Canadian military officer said cycling gave them a chance to enjoy nature and get exercise. The FBI announced Monday the rescue of 84 adolescent victims of child sex trafficking and exploitation crimes, along with the discovery of 37 missing children during a nationwide campaign. The FBI-led initiative, Operation Cross Country XII, involved the coordinated efforts of FBI special agents, intelligence analysts, victim specialists, and child adolescent forensic interviewers alongside 200 state, local, and federal partners, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release. Together with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), the FBI conducted a total of 391 operations in a two-week period, the release stated. The U.S. has been having an average of 42,816 Covid-19-related hospitalizations and 490 Covid-19-related deaths a day, according to the New York Times , and who knows how many new cases of long Covid a day. Oh, and there have been more and more reports of Paxlovid rebound occuring where people have turned Covid-19 positive after completing the five-day course of the medication and then testing negative, as I recently covered for Forbes .
