Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin With the market for technology stocks having just undergone one of its most rapid corrections in history – with the tech-dominant Nasdaq 100 Index falling almost 30% in just a few months – it’s time to take a close look at the valuations of companies producing leading cloud technology. Cloud technology stocks have been the epicenter of a ten-year bull market backed by massive amounts of money, as the entire global technology infrastructure has shifted to the cloud model for delivering information technology (IT) services. This is not a subtle move — it’s the biggest technology transformation in history. The gains and stock action have been uneven. Large blue-chip technology companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have led the market with surging profits, rapid growth, and understandable valuations. They have gigantic amounts of cash on their balance sheets. Some traditional technology conglomerates, like HPE and IBM, … [Read more...] about Opportunity Knocks: Deep Dive On Cloud Stock Valuations (Part 1)

The Best Dividend For A Bear Market
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The stock market keeps falling and falling because, for the first time in 14 years, there is nobody there to catch it. The “Fed put” has expired. The genesis of the Federal Reserve’s implicit put—the notion that the Fed will fix any decline—was the 2008 Financial Crisis. The financial system was on the ropes and the stock market itself became “too big to fail” as far as the Fed was concerned. Then-Chairman Ben Bernanke printed a bunch of money, boosted the market and was heralded a financial hero. Since then, the Fed has been reluctant to let the stock market drop. Anytime the S&P 500 has a hiccup or correction, the central bank has stepped in to print money, and this liquidity stabilizes stock prices. This implicit “insurance” has been called the Fed put. It’s a word play on options investing. When we buy puts, we are generally buying insurance on our portfolio. Puts rise in value as stock prices drop. … [Read more...] about The Best Dividend For A Bear Market

Daily Voice | India will be among best markets globally, if inflation cools off: Rajesh Bhatia of ITI Long-Short Equity Fund
"It is difficult to call the trajectory of inflation, especially since the outlook is clouded by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the spike in COVID cases in China. So we expect volatility in equity markets to continue in the short term as it navigates this inflation direction," says Rajesh Bhatia, Managing Director & CIO, ITI Long-Short Equity Fund, in an interview to Moneycontrol . If the inflation trajectory does cool off, India will be among the best markets in the world to invest in, he believes. Therefore, "earnings growth in double digits will lead to double-digit gains in stocks as well," says Bhatia, who has more than 30 years of investment experience in Indian equities, with the last 14 years in alternative investments (long-short fund management). Considering the current volatility, what could be the drivers for the market, and where could the market be headed in the near term, though most experts are still holding a positive outlook for the medium- … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | India will be among best markets globally, if inflation cools off: Rajesh Bhatia of ITI Long-Short Equity Fund

Futures pointed to another day of losses ahead, trading between 1% lower in early morning trading. Worst may not be over for the market. Stocks fall again
New York (CNN Business) The 2022 stock market meltdown may not be over just yet. Stocks fell again Thursday, following Wednesday's massive sell-off. Crazy markets are shredding Wall Street stock and bond forecasts
Representative image Another stormy week has left investors groping when it comes to the direction of stocks and bonds. Expecting to be led out of the darkness by Wall Street’s best and brightest may be asking too much, given their performance so far this year. As usually happens in twisting markets, it is proving a brutal year to forecast for the securities industry. Back in January, stock strategists known for their enduring optimism expected the S&P 500 to add 5% in 2022. Down 2.4% for a sixth straight weekly decline, the index plunged as much as 19.5% on Thursday from its record. Bond strategists weren’t any more prescient. Interest rate strategists and economists were calling for 10-year Treasury rates to rise to 2% by June. Yields took out that level in early February and have touched 3.2% this month.
