When will kawhi leonard return
Up until mid-June, a Kawhi Leonard trade seemed possible but unlikely from San Antonio's end. Based on all the public information we'd been privy to, the Spurs were prepared to heal the relationship between the organization and their disgruntled star and still offered the most potential money in the form of a "supermax" deal, which will not be available to him elsewhere. But things got very real on Friday afternoon, with agents leaking reports coming out of San Antonio that Leonard has officially demanded an exit from the only NBA team he has ever played for. In the span of seconds, national reporters from several outlets shared that Leonard is looking to move on. Without actual basketball to write about anymore — and all of you should be used to extended offseasons after powering through the Sixers' rebuild — we have moved firmly into speculation and rumor territory in the offseason. Everyone dreams big in mid-May, believing in their heart of hearts that LeBron James or another one of the big name free agents is going to end up in Philadelphia. Can the Sixers plan their entire summer and their future around that possibility? They certainly have up until this point. Outside of a deal that has already lasted too long for Jerryd Bayless, the Sixers' approach to the salary cap has been to avoid long-term commitments in order to take big swings in the summers of 2018 and 2019, before big-money extensions for their core price them out of the market.Making that happen is another matter entirely. The Sixers are an attractive destination, no doubt, but the most important pieces are in the early stages of their careers. Joel Embiid and Ben … [Read more...] about Sixers mailbag: Who are some offseason trade targets beyond Kawhi Leonard?
In a bigger upset than good fortune smiling on the Kings, this mailbag features only one “Can the Bulls trade for Kawhi Leonard?” question.Based on John Paxson’s pre-draft comments so far, it’s easy to jump to the conclusion the Bulls are already locked in on Mikal Bridges. With the combine and individual workouts approaching, how fluid do you think the team’s decision-making process will be? Are they focused on one or two guys or are they going in with an open mind? — David C., ChicagoPlenty of media outlets, including this one, have extrapolated Paxson’s end-of-season comment about needing shooting and defense at the wing position to mean Bridges. But less attention, even though those same outlets used the quote, has been focused on what Paxson said next: You can’t overlook talent.Bridges will certainly be in play with the No. 7 pick. But depending on what happens above them, so will several other players. Paxson distilled their … [Read more...] about Bulls Q&A: Who will be the No. 7 pick? When is a playoff return feasible?
Kawhi Leonard will attract a lot of attention if the San Antonio Spurs put him on the trade market. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images) The biggest name on the NBA free agent market this summer is the biggest name in the sport – LeBron James. But with fewer teams having the flexibility to spend in free agency the trade market appears the way to go this summer for an upgrade. And the list of disgruntled or underperforming stars possibly hitting the open market continues to grow. Already we have heard reports of players like John Wall and Bradley Beal, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, C.J. McCollum, Kemba Walker, Russell Westbrook and Andrew Wiggins among those who could be dealt. But the name causing the most buzz as we move closer to the offseason is a two-time All-NBA first teamer and two-time defensive Player of the Year.Kawhi Leonard, the San Antonio Spurs superstar, reportedly wants out after a bizarre season in which he distanced himself from the team and organization while … [Read more...] about How does Heat package stack up in possible deal for Kawhi Leonard?
