How To Pay for and Access a Legal Abortion

August 17, 2022 by www.investopedia.com

In Dobbs v. Jackson, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the half-century-old precedent that guaranteed federal abortion protections. After the controversial June decision, the matter was kicked back to the states, leading to a tangle of laws. It’s an ever-evolving landscape. Cost varies. Abortions are less expensive in the first trimester than later in the pregnancy. According to Planned Parenthood, the procedure can cost up to $750 in the first trimester, though it’s often less, and that amount climbs up to $1,500 later in the pregnancy. According to the latest available data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Abortion Surveillance System, the vast majority of abortions happen in the first trimester, with 92.7% occurring at or before 13 weeks of gestation, which is the beginning of the second trimester. However, as discussed below, advocates say that sending the matter to the states has increased costs in some circumstances, potentially putting … [Read more...] about How To Pay for and Access a Legal Abortion

Makati court sets aside void order vs Gatchalian’s P34-B reclamation project

August 18, 2022 by business.inquirer.net

A Makati City court has set aside an earlier order voiding the disputed P34-billion Manila Bay reclamation venture of the Gatchalian family, calling the decision last April “premature.” This involved the 2017 joint venture agreement for the Manila Waterfront City, a sprawling mixed-use development spanning 318 hectares that would be located west of the Quirino Grandstand up to the breakwater of Manila South Harbor. The project was assailed by petitioner Asean Seas Resources and Construction Development Corp., which claims overlapping rights in the area that was awarded three decades ago during the term of the late president Corazon “Cory” Aquino. But on Aug. 4, the Makati court said the petitioner failed to “implead” the Office of the President, which it said was an indispensable party, when it sued the joint venture parties and stakeholders Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), the City of Manila and Gatchalian-led Waterfront Manila Premier Development Corp. The President … [Read more...] about Makati court sets aside void order vs Gatchalian’s P34-B reclamation project

Can You Have a Pension and a 401(k)?

August 18, 2022 by www.investopedia.com

You can have a pension and still contribute to a 401(k)—and an IRA—to take charge of your retirement. If you have a defined benefit pension plan at work, you have nothing to worry about, right? Maybe not. While pensions used to be a staple ingredient in the recipe of retirement planning, fewer companies today offer them. What's more, the benefits aren't as reliable as they used to be . Now is a good time to start thinking about where your pension fits into your overall plan for retirement. It’s dangerous to rely on any pension—even a generous one—to cover all your retirement needs. Key Takeaways A pension provides a fixed monthly benefit upon retirement for the rest of your life. 401(k)s and IRAs provide income in retirement, too. But the amount depends on how much you contribute and how well your investments perform. A good retirement strategy is to contribute to a variety of retirement investments, including 401(k)s and IRAs—even if you already have a pension. … [Read more...] about Can You Have a Pension and a 401(k)?

Airbnb has a new ‘anti-party’ technology to spot possible troublemakers

August 18, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Airbnb has a new system to identify possible rule-breakers at the time of booking. (Representational image), Airbnb has rolled out new technology in the United States and Canada to prevent unauthorised parties at its properties. It will help the vacation rentals company spot "high-risk reservations" and block them from making bookings. Airbnb had in June announced a permanent ban on parties at its rental locations. The company began its crackdown on parties in 2019 after a fatal incident of shooting in California. Now, it has rolled out new tools to enforce its no-party policy. Airbnb's new technology will look at factors like "history of positive reviews (or lack of positive reviews), length of time the guest has been on Airbnb, length of the trip, distance to the listing, weekend vs. weekday" before confirming bookings. "This anti-party technology is designed to prevent a reservation attempt from going through," the company said in a statement on August 16, … [Read more...] about Airbnb has a new ‘anti-party’ technology to spot possible troublemakers

August 16, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Believe it or not, we’re on the fast track to the release of Overwatch 2 . Ahead of the sequel’s launch on October 4 — and Blizzard moving all Overwatch players over to it — Team 4 has revealed an important piece of the puzzle: how account merging and cross-progression work. No matter what platform you play Overwatch 2 on, you’ll need a Battle.net account. When Overwatch 2 launches, you can merge your PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch accounts and have one profile for all of them. This will allow you to access all the cosmetics (skins, voice lines and so on) you have unlocked across the connected accounts. You’ll also be able to share Overwatch 2 progress between platforms. For instance, if you play on both PC and Xbox, you’ll be able to level up your battle pass on each of them. The final, controversial episode of Game Of Thrones aired on May 19th, 2019 on HBO in a world that looks very different from the world we live in now. A year later, many of the world’s economies would grind to a halt as restaurants and schools and businesses shutdown in the face of an unprecedented global pandemic. Work on shows like House Of The Dragon, the prequel spinoff to Game Of Thrones, would grind to a halt or, at the very least, slow to a crawl.
