Airbnb Launches Crackdown On Parties For Summer Holidays

May 14, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Planning a big Memorial Day party kickoff to the summer? Or a midsummer Independence Day bash? Don’t try it at an Airbnb rental. Airbnb announced that the company will be instituting strict “anti-party” restrictions for bookings on July 4th, 2022. The company for the first time will expand these restrictions for Memorial Day weekend. The National Football League (NFL) is jokingly called the “ no-fun league ” for its banning of player celebrations. To some, it may appear that Airbnb’s “anti-party” initiative is an attempt to snatch the no-fun crown. Or is Airbnb trying to protect communities—and its own reputation—from the consequences of out-of-control partying? Who doesn’t love a good party, especially one in a rented house you don’t have to clean up after? Memories of TV shows and movies about parties like Project X (“a celebration of bad behavior”) have no doubt stuck in the minds of former teenagers now old … [Read more...] about Airbnb Launches Crackdown On Parties For Summer Holidays

May 17, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Privacy Battle Over Connected Cars Takes An Interesting Turn In California

May 17, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin So goes California, and so typically goes the country. And the North American automotive industry along with it. That's possibly the case with California and its battle over data. There is no question the automotive manufacturers want data from hundreds of sensors for a multitude of reasons ranging from warranty reduction, repair prognostics, machine learning of safety-related systems and, yes, advertising revenue. As the former CEO of Ford, Mark Fields, announced to the world in 2016 , "As our vehicles become part of the Internet of things and as consumers give permission to us to collect that data, we'll also become an information company. Our differentiator will be how we use that data to satisfy our customers in ways that they never thought possible in their lives." In fact, it's projected by 2023 that worldwide sales of connected vehicles will surpass 76 million units (70% globally, 90% in the United States) with … [Read more...] about Privacy Battle Over Connected Cars Takes An Interesting Turn In California

In spite of these opportunities, be careful how often you apply for credit offers. Having too many inquiries on your report especially in a short amount of time can negatively impact your credit score. The issue here is not comparing loan offers or credit cards. Ringgit seen trading range-bound at RM4.38 to RM4.40 against US dollar next week

May 21, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): The ringgit is expected to move range-bound between RM4.38 and RM4.40 against the US dollar next week as investors mull cutting their long US dollar exposure in G10 currencies due to rising worries over a possible global recession, said an analyst. The G10 is a grouping of industrialised countries, whose members include the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and France. SPI Asset Management managing partner Stephen Innes said the cutting back on long US dollar positions would likely filter through to Asian foreign exchange (FX) and strengthen the ringgit against the greenback. He said traders are starting to price in a recession, so the US growth and economic data will continue to be under the market glare. “Since interest rate traders are now pricing in a recession, interest rates along the US Federal Reserve (US Fed) curve, namely for late 2023 and 2024, are starting to reprice lower and the market has backed off on any … [Read more...] about Ringgit seen trading range-bound at RM4.38 to RM4.40 against US dollar next week

Prolonged grief disorder: Helpful diagnosis or harmful stigma?

May 18, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

When my best friend, “Kay,” was 24, her partner died. For years, I struggled to understand what happened to her in the aftermath. Kay had been dating “DF” for a year and a half. He was a few decades older with a chronic illness, and for months she’d wondered whether or not their relationship had a future. But she liked him too much to break up with him. advertisement advertisement Then, one day, he went to the hospital for severe appendicitis, and 11 days later he was gone. Overnight, Kay changed. We expected that. She was grieving. But months, then years passed, and Kay’s grief kept flowing from her in great waves. During the first five months after DF’s death, she could not go a day without sobbing. It was a year before she could handle getting out of bed, and get herself to therapy. It would be nearly four years before she was up to doing full-time work, six before I heard her laugh. For a long time, I wondered how grief had knocked her so completely … [Read more...] about Prolonged grief disorder: Helpful diagnosis or harmful stigma?
