These frozen coffee pods are the future of barista-quality coffee at home
Each morning for the past two weeks, I’ve taken out a tiny aluminum capsule from my freezer. Inside is a small, frozen puck of coffee, which I pop in a glass and pour a few tablespoons of boiling water over from my kettle. As a Bostonian, I’ll drink iced coffee in a tundra, so I add ice cubes, top off the glass with almond milk and water, and toss the capsule into the recycling bin. And that’s the beauty of Cometeer . advertisement advertisement The new-ish company sells K-cup size capsules of flash-frozen brewed coffee, that are stashed in your freezer and reconstituted with hot water. They can also chill in your fridge or counter (or carry-on, as the company emphasizes, the capsules are TSA-compliant) for up to 24-hours and be added to cold water (or ice cream for affogato) once it melts. The capsules don’t explode or go bad if left defrosted, but the brand says the 24-hour window is when the “full complexity” is at its peak freshness. Wall St set for weekly gains on signs of cooling inflation
- A + A (Aug 12): Wall Street's main indexes rose on Friday, setting the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq for a fourth straight week of gains on increasing evidence that inflation may have peaked. The S&P 500 is up 16.8% from its mid-June low, with the latest boost coming from a slower-than-expected rise in consumer prices and a surprise drop in producer prices in July. The benchmark index crossed a closely watched technical level of 4,231 points, indicating it has recovered 50% of its bear market loss. It was headed for fourth straight week of gains, its best performance since November 2021. "We're seeing a market that is focusing on inflation peaking and so the rally is continuing, although volume is rather light," said Peter Cardillo, chief market economist at Spartan Capital Securities. "Investors are becoming more optimistic in terms of the Fed not being as aggressive as the market previously had expected." While policymakers remain firm about a further … [Read more...] about Wall St set for weekly gains on signs of cooling inflation
NBA 2K23: 2K Unveils Details Of Jordan Challenge 2.0
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin After spending an hour listening to Visual Concepts executive producers Erick Boenisch and Mike Wang discuss the revamped Jordan Challenge feature coming to NBA 2K23, one thing was clear: a lot of work went into making this redux feel like a new experience. The Jordan Challenge concept was originally introduced ahead of the release of NBA 2K11. Back 12 years ago, the mode took fans on a virtual and interactive tour of some of Jordan’s most iconic moments. Users were tasked with recreating these moments while hitting specific measurables to complete the experience. Most of that remains intact for the NBA 2K23 iteration with a ton more detail and nuance thanks to the use of the more powerful consoles available to gamers in 2022. In an effort to transport the user to the time of the Jordan moment being recreated, 2K has upped the ante on visual and audio presentation. Filters and era-specific television broadcast … [Read more...] about NBA 2K23: 2K Unveils Details Of Jordan Challenge 2.0

ABS-CBN and TV5 joint venture MANILA, Philippines — A consumer group has lauded the partnership of ABS-CBN and TV5, believing it would improve public service programs and even out distribution of news reports – which could be of benefit to the public. “The fusion of TV5 and ABS-CBN is definitely good news to the viewing public as this will help democratize the dissemination of well-vetted news reports to the public which is a mandated responsibility of a TV franchise,” CitizenWatch Philippines convener Orlando Oxales said in a statement Friday “We look forward to enhanced public service programs that will keep Filipinos well informed of important information that is relevant to their everyday lives, especially during times of crisis,” he added. The Biggest Lesson From James Webb That No One Is Talking About
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin For those of us who waited with bated breath to see the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the wait was well worth it. In profoundly beautiful color and detail, these first images of the world’s largest and most powerful space telescope are only the first glimpses at what lies ahead in the coming years. To literally watch the other side of the universe as it was forming over 13 billion years ago is a mind bender. Given the uncanny symmetry that seems to organize all of what we are observing, we can reasonably assume our own solar system formed in the same way. In a sense, we now have photographic proof – a selfie of sorts - to go along with the immortal words “…without form, and void.” (Genesis 1:2) Of course, the fiscal hawks are already screaming about the cost – $10B. That is a lot, but not when considering how much we will advance human civilization with new understandings of the universe. For less … [Read more...] about The Biggest Lesson From James Webb That No One Is Talking About
