High-Profile Investment Firm Suffers $23 Billion Loss On Big Tech

Japanese technology investment firm SoftBank Group Corp. lost more than $23 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2022, according to The Wall Street Journal. The massive losses have already led to a pivot in investment strategy, with subsidiary Vision Fund approving only $600 million in new investments during the first quarter, $20 billion less than the same time last year, according to Reuters . In conjunction with a slowdown in investments, Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son announced that there would be significant cost cuts, including layoffs, the WSJ reported. HDFC hikes retail prime lending rate on housing loans by 25 bps from August 9

Trade Watchlist Portfolio Message Set Alert live bse live nse live Volume Todays L/H More × Mortgage financier Housing Development and Finance Corporation (HDFC) on August 8 announced a quarter of a percentage hike in the retail prime lending rate (RPLR) on housing loans. The benchmark lending rate for home loans has been raised by 25 basis points, as per a regulatory filing. The new rate will come into effect from August 9, HDFC said. "HDFC increases its retail prime lending rate (RPLR) on Housing loans, on which its adjustable rate home loans (ARHL) are benchmarked, by 25 basis points, with effect from August 9, 2022," it informed the stock exchanges. The announcement comes around a week after HDFC raised the RPLR by 25 bps, with effect from August 1 . The key lending rate has been increased six times since May this year. Since June 20, 2022 when the market hit the most recent bottom, the BSE Smallcap index has rallied nearly 18 percent. In comparison, the BSE Sensex has gained 13 percent and the BSE Midcap 16 percent in the same period. A cursory glance at the data shows outperformance is not centred on a single sector but across industries.
