Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Release the Kraken! You are undoubtedly familiar with that famous catchphrase as especially uttered by actor Liam Neeson in The Clash of the Titans when he commands that the legendary sea monster be released, aiming to wreak immense havoc and outsized destruction. The line has been endlessly repeated and spawned all manner of memes. Despite the various parodies, most people still at least viscerally sense that the remark foretells something of a shadowy and dangerous emergence is about to be unleashed. Perhaps the same sentiment can be applied these days to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Allow me to elaborate. A recent announcement indicated that a now resoundingly famous AI app called ChatGPT made by the organization OpenAI is soon going to be made available for access by other programs. This is big news. I say this even though little of the regular media has picked up on the pronouncement. Other than fleeting … [Read more...] about Generative AI ChatGPT Is Going To Be Everywhere Once The API Portal Gets Soon Opened, Stupefying AI Ethics And AI Law

Top 5 Legal Mistakes For Startups—and How To Avoid Them
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Most startups are built through trial and error. Founders build, test, then pivot. This process is essential to build breakthrough products. But it’s not the best way to approach legally. When it comes to legal matters, trial and error can get extremely expensive. Below are the top five most common legal mistakes for startups and some tips on how to avoid them. Splitting the Equity Up Front A lot of founding teams avoid the hard conversation about individual contributions and commitments by splitting the equity evenly up front without a vesting schedule. This can lead to a number of problems and is how you get “Zombie Founders”—holders of significant equity in your startup that don’t contribute anything of value. To avoid this, have that hard conversation with your co-founders up front and make sure everyone is on the same page. Work out the levels of contribution and commitment each founder can provide, and make … [Read more...] about Top 5 Legal Mistakes For Startups—and How To Avoid Them

Cryptos are nothing but gambling, their value only make-believe: RBI governor
There can be a moderation in inflation target numbers globally but it would be 'too soon' to shift the target, said Shaktikanta Das. Reserve Bank governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday reiterated his call for an outright ban on cryptocurrencies, saying these are “nothing but gambling” and their perceived “value is nothing but make-believe." To further its opposition to such currencies and also to take a lead over other central banks, the RBI recently launched its own digital currency (central bank digital currency), in the form of e–rupee on a pilot mode, first for the wholesale in late last October and a month later for retail customers. Speaking at a Business Today event this evening here, Das reiterated the need for an outright ban on cryptos saying though those supporting it call it an asset or a financial product, there is no underlying value in it not even a tulip (alluding to the Dutch tulip mania blow-up in the early part of the past century). “Every asset, every financial … [Read more...] about Cryptos are nothing but gambling, their value only make-believe: RBI governor
DTC Advertising Of Prescription Drugs In The U.S. Often Promotes Products With Comparatively Low Therapeutic Value
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Anyone who watches television in the U.S. must notice how saturated the airwaves are with prescription drug spots. In the late 1990s, when I returned from living in Europe for more than 15 years, I was quite surprised by all the commercials for prescription drugs.* And that was when there was comparatively little direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of pharmaceuticals. From 1997 to 2016, DTC advertising increased nearly five-fold, with television accounting for roughly two-thirds of total expenditures. Almost all advertising is for brand-name drugs. And, practically every commercial ends by encouraging those watching to “ask your doctor” about the product being advertised. DTC advertising of prescription drugs is ubiquitous in the U.S. Not just on television. It’s online, on the radio, on billboards, and in magazines and newspapers, promoting treatments for pain, arthritis, cancer, heartburn, flu, deteriorating memory, … [Read more...] about DTC Advertising Of Prescription Drugs In The U.S. Often Promotes Products With Comparatively Low Therapeutic Value

The legislation, HB 869, was filed on Wednesday by Republican state Rep. Tony Lovasco, according to a report from Marijuana Moment. Under the bill, which is a revised version of a bill Lovasco introduced last year, patients would be able to use psilocybin to treat severe depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or the mental health effects of a diagnosis for a terminal illness. Psilocybin-assisted therapy would also be available to patients with other conditions for which traditional therapies have not been effective, with the approval of regulators. The legislation is “a first step to addressing pervasive mental health crises that affect every sector of our society and economy by creating access to clinically … [Read more...] about Missouri State Lawmaker Files Psilocybin Therapy Legalization Bill
