MOF Inc-owned Pernas seeks summary judgement in RM46 mil lawsuit against Serba Dinamik MD, two former execs

August 9, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 9): Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas), who is suing Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd's managing director Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah and two former senior executives of the oil and gas services outfit's subsidiaries to claim the return of RM46.49 million over a share investment that went bad, has applied for a summary judgement against the trio. It filed the application on Aug 1 through Messrs Azmi & Associates, claiming that the defendants' defence has no merit, and that there are no longer triable issues to be decided by the court. Pernas, a Minister of Finance Inc (MOF Inc)-owned company with the mandate to lead the development of Malaysia's franchise industry, initiated the lawsuit in May. The two other defendants named in the lawsuit are Rosland Othman and Rosli Hamat. The Benefits of Licensing for Startups.

July 29, 2022 by www.inc.com

Startup founders need every tool at their disposal to successfully launch and grow their businesses. One of those tools is a clear understanding of how the licensing business model can be employed to support their goals , including speed to market and filing intellectual property that is attractive to investors. The concept of licensing has been around for a very long time. The inventor of the first patented technology -- Samuel Hopkins, in 1790, for a new method of manufacturing potash and pearl ash -- licensed it to a local businessman the next year, says historian Arthur Daemmrich at the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. Basically, one party (the inventor or artist) grants another party (typically a company) the right to produce and sell something they created. As far as I can tell, most startup founders aren't very familiar with the concept of licensing a product onto the market. Venturing -- the traditional method of bringing a … [Read more...] about The Benefits of Licensing for Startups.

7 Reasons Product Developers Should Attend Trade Shows

March 14, 2019 by www.inc.com

To become truly successful at licensing your new product ideas, you must know the industry you're inventing for like the back of your hand. There's no better way of getting to know an industry than by attending its annual trade show. Between the cost of transportation, lodging, and food, it's true that expenses quickly add up. Plan ahead, because there are numerous benefits. In my opinion, these are among the most significant. 1. The inspiration you receive from checking out the new innovation. I can almost guarantee that you will walk away with new ideas for products. Trade shows are exhilarating! You will feel reenergized. 2. Face-to-face meetings. When you can connect with people in your industry with the click of a button over LinkedIn, does meeting in person still have value? Even more, I'd argue. If your goal is to build a long-term working relationship that benefit both parties, there is simply no replacement for shaking someone's hand and looking them in the … [Read more...] about 7 Reasons Product Developers Should Attend Trade Shows

What Inventors Need to Know About Trade Shows

May 30, 2018 by www.inc.com

If you're serious about bringing your ideas for products to market, you should absolutely attend trade shows. They're always eye-opening. The only way to truly understand the mechanics of any industry is by attending its trade shows. One guarantee? You'll be overwhelmed. I've attended all kinds of shows over the course of my career as a product developer , including toys, back-to-school, pet, housewares, hardware, electronic, promotional, music, and more. Checking out the latest innovations and making new friends at a trade show never fails to inspire me. But I've also wasted a lot of time attending the wrong shows and not having clearly defined goals. When you're starting out, it's especially important that you make good decisions. Your resources are limited! Preparation is key. At trade shows, I meet inventors who have spent years and tens of thousands of dollars getting ready to show their product to the world. They've paid for a booth and now today's the big … [Read more...] about What Inventors Need to Know About Trade Shows

Russia Threatens, EU Reduces, US Industry Helps To Untangle The Natural Gas War In Europe.

July 28, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Both oil and gas exported from Russia bring in significant revenue that can be used to support the Russian war in Ukraine. But the export revenue from oil sales is much greate r than export revenue from gas sales. If the West stops buying oil this really hurts Russia – more than if the West stopped buying gas. Back in May, the EU agreed to ban all Russian oil imports by the end of 2022, at least those that are delivered by sea. That was a good move. Russia threatens to cut gas supplies to the European Union. Russia has realized that cutting natural gas doesn’t affect their export revenue (like oil does) but it affects the economies of EU countries a lot more. Russia supplied the EU with 40% of its gas last year , with Germany, Italy, and Netherlands the top three importers in actual volumes of gas. Germany had imported more than 50% of its gas from Russia via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. By the end of June, … [Read more...] about Russia Threatens, EU Reduces, US Industry Helps To Untangle The Natural Gas War In Europe.

Singapore regulator reiterates crypto dangers amid Hodlnaut woes

August 9, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A SINGAPORE (Aug 9): Cryptocurrency investment is "highly hazardous" but meltdowns in the sector have not created financial-stability risks for Singapore, regulators in the city-state said after another digital-asset firm ran into trouble. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has rescinded its in-principle approval for crypto lender Hodlnaut to obtain a licence to provide digital payment token services under the Payment Services Act, an MAS spokesperson said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. That came after Hodlnaut told MAS of its intention to withdraw its application amid its halt in customer withdrawals announced on Monday. It had been one of the few firms granted in-principle approval by MAS under the Act. "MAS has been continually reminding the general public that dealing in cryptocurrency is highly hazardous," the regulator's spokesperson said in response to an inquiry about Hodlnaut's situation. "Not only are the values of cryptocurrencies … [Read more...] about Singapore regulator reiterates crypto dangers amid Hodlnaut woes

BIZ BUZZ: Awaiting Marcos’ mining moves

August 10, 2022 by business.inquirer.net

Mining firms heaved a huge sigh of relief following Malacañang’s policy pronouncement that the government will ramp up the development of the industry to shore up the economy. Miners in Zambales, in particular, must have also felt vindicated by the recent audit conducted by the Mines Geosciences Bureau (MGB) that they passed with flying colors. According to reports, these mining companies—Benguet Corp. Nickel Mines, Eramen Minerals Inc., LNL Archipelago Minerals Inc. and Zambales Diversified Metals Corp.—got an aggregate score of 97.86 last year from 93.07 the previous year. They were assessed for safety and health, environment and social development management performance. Veteran stockbroker and now Eagle Securities senior consultant Den Somera told Biz Buzz that the Marcos administration’s policy is most welcome. “The industry has suffered immeasurable losses because of the successive shutdowns,” he said. “I hope that the present government will follow through with this … [Read more...] about BIZ BUZZ: Awaiting Marcos’ mining moves
