President Ford’s Vail Winter White House Hits The Market For $13 Million
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin While he was President, Gerald Ford was often mocked for alleged physical ineptitude. He acquired a reputation as a clumsy, likable and simple-minded everyman; an incident in 1975, when he tripped while exiting Air Force One in Austria, was famously and repeatedly parodied by Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live , cementing Ford's image as a klutz. In fact, he was a lifelong athlete, a skilled football player who won two national championships while at the University of Michigan. Following his senior year, he turned down offers from the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers, instead taking a position as the boxing coach and assistant varsity football coach at Yale, while applying to Yale Law School. He loved to ski, so a vacation home in Vail, Colorado made sense. Built in 1967, this mountain chateau served as a favorite holiday retreat for President Gerald and First Lady Betty Ford. Now their winter holiday ski house … [Read more...] about President Ford’s Vail Winter White House Hits The Market For $13 Million

(Reuters filepix by Sofiia Gatilova) - A + A KYIV (June 27): Western nations on Monday pledged unwavering support for Ukraine in the war with Russia, including more sanctions on Moscow and air-defence systems, as Russian forces closed in on the last big city still held by Ukrainian troops in eastern Luhansk province. Two Russian missiles struck a crowded shopping centre in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, southeast of Kyiv, killing at least 10 people and wounding 40, senior Ukrainian officials said. "It's useless to hope for decency and humanity from Russia," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on Telegram. Biden swipes at China with memo to combat illegal fishing
U.S. President Joe Biden attends the G7 leaders’ summit at the Bavarian resort of Schloss Elmau castle, near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, June 27, 2022. REUTERS/Lukas Barth/Pool WASHINGTON — U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday signed a national security memorandum to fight illegal fishing, part of pledged efforts to help countries combat alleged violations by fishing fleets, including those of China. The White House said in a statement that it would also launch an alliance with Canada and the United Kingdom to “take urgent action” to improve monitoring, control, and surveillance in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. U.S. officials have vowed to introduce policies to better battle illegal fishing, particularly in the Indo-Pacific, as part of stepped up engagement with the region to counter China’s growing influence. Some countries in the region chafe at China’s vast fishing fleet, arguing its vessels often violate their 200-nautical-mile … [Read more...] about Biden swipes at China with memo to combat illegal fishing
Daily Voice | More correction likely as these four risk factors not priced in yet, says Dhananjay Sinha of JM Financial
"It will be early to assume that the full impact of headwinds (that confront the global and Indian economy currently) are priced in," says Dhananjay Sinha, Managing Director and Head Strategist and Economist - Equity Research at JM Financial Institutional Securities. Gauging the markets using this monitor, JM Financial sees that 30-35 percent of the characteristics of past capitulation are visible as of now, leaving further scope for adjustments. Hence they expect commodity prices to correct further and crude would be the last to collapse, giving rise to a scenario of market capitulation. Thus, the markets may still be afar from a deep value situation, Sinha shares in an interview with Moneycontrol . Excerpts from the interview: Do you think the market fully priced in all these risk factors? Do you see any other risk that the market hasn't factored in yet? While it is true that the market now knows the various risks that confront the global and Indian economy, it will … [Read more...] about Daily Voice | More correction likely as these four risk factors not priced in yet, says Dhananjay Sinha of JM Financial
Umno not badly affected by Tajuddin’s allegations, say analysts
PETALING JAYA: Allegations by Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman will not break Umno, but the party still needs to collectively deal with it, say political analysts. Analysts: Tajuddin’s tell-all reflects badly on him
PETALING JAYA: Accusations made by ousted Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman will only affect him badly, say political analysts. However, they said Umno must still sit down together and put their differences aside to deal with the allegations. Senior fellow at the Nusantara Academy for Strategic Research (NASR) Dr Azmi Hassan labelled Tajuddin as a “walking-blooper” whose accusations against Umno and its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would only tarnish the ousted member’s own reputation. He said it was because the public already had a poor opinion of Tajuddin and they would only see his tell-all as a reaction to his dismissal from the party’s supreme council. “People would likely view him as very angry and sour over his dismissal (from the supreme council). “Tajuddin is a walking-blooper, especially during his tenure as Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman. “People will not give any credibility to his latest accusations. Fatal backslide on women’s rights in US, says China Daily
BEIJING, June 27 (China Daily/ANN): The US Supreme Court's seismic ruling on Friday (June 24) to overturn Roe vs Wade that has guaranteed women the constitutional right to abortion since 1973 has sent shockwaves across the United States and around the world. The 5-4 vote by the conservative majority court has allowed states the freedom to ban abortions, thereby denying women the right to make own personal decisions about their bodies and reproduction choices. Already, the so-called trigger bans in 13 states, mainly in the South and Midwest, have either gone into effect automatically with the court's decision or will go into effect in 30 days. Many other states are set to move in that direction. The Supreme Court's decision is a curtailment of the rights of women in the US that goes against the will of the majority of people in the country. The latest Pew survey shows that 61 per cent of US adults say abortion should be legal all or most of the time, while only 37 per cent say it … [Read more...] about Fatal backslide on women’s rights in US, says China Daily
LongTail Rally 2.0: More Cars, More Adventures, More Chills And Thrills
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Just over 13 months after the inaugural LongTail Rally of 2021, rally organizers kicked off the second LongTail Rally amidst the stunning skyline of San Francisco. Rally organizers Michael Knapp and Julie Milne didn’t need to up their game after the celebrated reaction to the first LongTail Rally, but they kicked things up a notch nonetheless. Where last year’s rally included a trip to BMW’s driving school in Thermal, California, and a visit to Speed Vegas outside Sin City, this year’s drive crossed far more state lines and included off-road safaris, high-altitude tests of man and machine, plus a massive 110-degree pool party and a marriage proposal.
