Celltrion founder and chairman Seo Jung-jin speaks about his plan for the company during a press conference Wednesday, a day after returning to the management. [CELLTRION] Celltrion is working to further develop its own drug repertoire, not just that of its drug biosimilars. About 40 percent of its annual revenues will come from original drugs in 2030, with the remaining 60 percent from traditional cash cow biosimilar products. These were a few of the plans announced by founder Seo Jung-jin as part of his efforts to help Celltrion shares rebound from its years of being in a slump. Seo was appointed as the co-chairman of Celltrion Holdings and three listed Celltrion companies — Celltrion, Celltrion Pharm and Celltrion Healthcare — during a shareholder meeting Tuesday, after two years after he walked away from the management. His return came upon the request of current management executives as Celltrion shares more than halved from their peak, and shares of Celltrion Pharm … [Read more...] about Celltrion to refine its own drug repertoire to recover from slump

SEN. ERIC SCHMITT: It’s Time To Dismantle The Deep State
Lurking deep in the depths of alphabet agencies dotted around our nation’s capital is a network of bureaucrats and agency heads who possess incredible amounts of power. On a whim, with a guidance letter or a self-serving rule, they can ruin your livelihood and are the greatest internal threat to the survival of our system of self-government. This “Administrative State” is completely antithetical to the vision of our founders. It gives unelected bureaucrats the power to enact rules that have the full force and effect of law and that can affect individuals and entire industries. Do you remember voting for the chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission? Of course you don’t, because you didn’t. And, what is the CPSC? Among other goofy things they do, it’s the same organization behind the push to ban gas stoves, without any regard for families or restauranteurs who rely on their gas stoves to feed families. Not only are they detached from reality, nobody at the CPSC was … [Read more...] about SEN. ERIC SCHMITT: It’s Time To Dismantle The Deep State

The Answer To Whether I’m Too Old To Get Another Dog
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Author Wasted No Time In Solving His Dilemma A couple of months ago I wrote an article questioning whether getting a dog at this point in my life is a good idea. While my wife and I strongly missed the companionship and unconditional love we got from our pets, our age, health status, and lifestyle were definitely considerations. We were free to travel without having to find a sitter, we didn’t have to rush home after dinner and a show to the poor pup to let him out of his crate. And we didn’t have expensive vet bills! I closed the article with the question of whether the dog we lost 6 months before that would be our last dog. That question — defining the problem — was the first step. Here’s our answer to the question in the form of a photo of our new puppy, Beau, half border collie and half poodle. He’s currently about 16 weeks old and weighs 16 pounds, on his way to about 30 to 35 lbs. Yes, he’s adorable. But … [Read more...] about The Answer To Whether I’m Too Old To Get Another Dog

MANILA — The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) on Wednesday said its approved investments in the first quarter surged by 54 percent, bouncing back from a 68-percent plunge during the same period last year, during which Russia invaded Ukraine and roiled global markets. The Peza said investments reached P12.53 billion from January to March, or a 53.99-percent increase from P8.141 billion recorded in the same period in 2022. Peza Director General Tereso Panga said 42 new and expansion projects were approved in the first quarter, which are expected to generate $616.585 million in export receipts and 5,236 direct jobs. “We have achieved positive investments for this year’s first quarter and we can sustain this momentum in the coming months as we expect more inbound delegations of foreign investors,” Panga said in a statement. “The best is yet to come as we further open up the economy and manage the external headwinds,” he added. The Peza chief also mentioned recent … [Read more...] about Peza investments surged 54% to P12.53B in Q1
Focus on benefits, manage expectations of PH virology institute
PHOTOS DOST/INQUIRER FILES ( Second of two parts) MANILA, Philippines—While foreign scientists see possible risks in the proposed Virology and Vaccine Institute of the Philippines, local scientists and supporters of the law, which would give rise to the facility, were urged to communicate better and emphasize the benefits of having a virology research institute in the country. As the country awaits the passage of the measure proposing the creation of the Philippine Virology Science and Technology Institute (PVSTI)—also called the Virology Institute of the Philippines (VIP)—foreign researchers and scientists pointed out several risks and concerns in constructing the institute, which will house new biosafety-level-3 (BSL-3) and BSL-4 facilities. According to the US Department of Health & Human Services, Biosafety Levels (BSLs) “are designations applied to projects or activities conducted in laboratories in ascending order of containment based on the degree of the … [Read more...] about Focus on benefits, manage expectations of PH virology institute

Layoffs Suck. Here’s How Good Leaders Handle Them
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not something any executive ever wants to go through, but there’s a right way — and a wrong way — to carry out layoffs. Meta announced on Tuesday it would cut 10,000 employees. Layoffs are occurring at other tech giants — including Amazon, Google, Zoom, and Microsoft — over 30 media companies, and countless other organizations, such as FedEx , that staffed up heavily during the height of the pandemic. Many of these companies are now trying to reduce costs amidst a changing market and ongoing inflation, and executives are faced with a new challenge: Cutting back without ruining morale or losing the ground that they gained. Leaders at companies that boomed as a result of need created by the pandemic have faced a dilemma over the past three years. With things going well during that period, how much should they grow? How long would that growth be sustained? When should they begin cutting back as the world readjusted … [Read more...] about Layoffs Suck. Here’s How Good Leaders Handle Them
