But since then, the murder rate has steadily declined. The Big Apple had about 290 homicides in 2017, the lowest in 70 years, according to the New York Daily News. Some have even dubbed today's NYC "the safest big city" in the US. To get a better sense of what NYC's streets are like these days, we spent three nights with NY Daily News crime reporter Kerry Burke, considered by many to be the best in the city. Burke, 55, reported from ground zero on 9/11, helped break the Eric Garner story, and was even on a few episodes of Bravo's "Tabloid Wars" in 2006. The two have no clear agenda, but Trump is expected to bring up Russian hacking of the Democratic National Convention's servers after the special counsel's team indicted 12 Russians over the incident. Putin kept Trump waiting a full hour before the summit. Putin's plane landed in Helsinki at 1 p.m. local time, just 10 minutes before the scheduled start, according to pool reports. The man's wife survived. And I got a chance to go aboard. Amphibious transport dock ships (LPDs) "are used to transport and land Marines, their equipment and supplies by embarked Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) or conventional landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) augmented by helicopters or vertical take-off and landing aircraft (MV 22)," according to the US Navy. The US Navy also displayed an AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter and a UH-1Y Venom helicopter on the Arlington's flight deck.
