Veteran USA Today Editor Says He Was Demoted For Not Being ‘Woke’ Enough
A former opinion editor at USA Today claimed in a Thursday evening New York Post op-ed he was demoted for a tweet that did not conform with the views of “woke” co-workers. “I was USA Today’s deputy editorial page editor until August, when I was demoted after I tweeted, ‘People who are pregnant are also women,’” David Mastio wrote . He said in the op-ed that those running USA Today and its parent company, Gannett Media, hired staffers with “a narrow ‘woke’ ideology” at odds with many readers across the country. “That idea was forbidden because a ‘news reporter’ covering diversity, equity and inclusion wrote a story detailing how transgender men can get pregnant,” Mastio said. “I compounded my sin against this new orthodoxy by calling the idea that men can get pregnant an ‘opinion.’” (RELATED: Biden Admin Proposes Reinterpreting Decades-Old Civil Rights Law To Include Protections For ‘Gender Identity’) Mastio claimed that his superiors at USA Today told him to delete the … [Read more...] about Veteran USA Today Editor Says He Was Demoted For Not Being ‘Woke’ Enough

How Crystal Cruises Pulled Off Its Massive Expansion
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This week’s jaw dropping announcement by Crystal Cruises that in one fell swoop it is expanding into river cruising, offering a yacht product, operating its own private jet tours and selling 144 multi-million dollar residences aboard three new build cruise ships was part of a vision President and CEO Edie Rodriguez had in mind when she joined the line in October 2013. However, it wasn’t until this May, when the company was acquired by Genting Hong Kong , the dream began to take hold. She tells Forbes.com, more significant initiatives will be unveiled in the next six months. For industry observers, joining Crystal may have seemed a surprising move for Rodriguez, even if it was for the top job. A 34-year industry veteran, who started as a travel agent, she served in senior leadership positions at Carnival Corporation’s Carnival Cruise Lines, Cunard and Seabourn, as well as most recently senior vice president of sales and … [Read more...] about How Crystal Cruises Pulled Off Its Massive Expansion
The Inside Story Behind Crystal Cruises’ Plan To Save Iconic Ocean Liner SS United States
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Sometimes, it takes a bit of luck. Should the S.S. United States sail again, it will only be because all the stars aligned. Today’s announcement that Crystal Cruises has signed an exclusive purchase option agreement for the vessel was a convergence of twists and turns decades in the making. It started when Edie Rodriguez, the Crystal CEO moved to Miami from New York in the 1980s and was struck by how the beautiful art deco buildings of South Beach had fallen into disrepair and was tormented as many fell victim to the wrecking ball before the area was reinvigorated into one of the world’s hottest and trendiest luxury destinations. Later when she was working for Cunard Line on its launch of the Queen Mary 2, she was charged with digging into the company’s storied transatlantic history. As she read about the original Queen Mary (now a hotel in Long Beach, California and its sister the Queen Elizabeth). she kept coming upon another … [Read more...] about The Inside Story Behind Crystal Cruises’ Plan To Save Iconic Ocean Liner SS United States

They sell life-enhancing teas that fit in with your mood, with all profits going towards funding mental health projects to save young lives. World’s most watched oil data won’t be released this week
- A + A (June 24): The most closely watched oil data in the world -- the US government’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report -- won’t be released as planned this week because of system issues stemming from a power problem. The Energy Information Administration has delayed the release of all but its Weekly Natural Gas Inventory report planned this week after electricity issues caused an unspecified hardware failure. “We aren’t releasing any more data this week,” spokesman Chris Higginbotham said. The agency last experienced a significant delay in 2013 due to a government shutdown, he said. The U.S. is among the few major oil-producing and oil-consuming nations that publish weekly, detailed data on the health of the nation’s petroleum supply and demand. The report provides key insights into an oil market that’s seen prices rise more than 40% this year, forcing governments to wrestle with surging inflation. When it is released, the data often moves oil prices. Each week, … [Read more...] about World’s most watched oil data won’t be released this week
