Credit agencies want to delve deeper into finances than ever before
Consumers will soon be able to see their financial health improve or decline in real time, as the UK’s credit referencing firms plan to delve into the personal bank accounts of their users. Credit scoring agencies already have access to information about the financial products people have applied for, such as credit cards and mortgages. However, this data is lagged, meaning that it can sometimes take days or weeks for this to appear on a credit file. In place of the supercenter’s trademark logo hangs a curious sign: ‘‘Casa Padre.’’But behind the sliding doors is a bustling city unto itself, equipped with classrooms, recreation centers and medical examination rooms. Casa Padre now houses more than 1,400 immigrant boys, dozens of them forcibly separated from their parents at the border by a new Trump administration ‘‘zero-tolerance’’ policy. On Wednesday, for the first time since that policy was announced, and amid intense national interest after a U.S. senator was turned away, federal authorities allowed a small group of … [Read more...] about The US is holding over 1,400 migrant kids in an old Walmart. Asian stocks near 3-week top, dollar eases after US inflation
SYDNEY - Asian markets started on a firm footing and the dollar eased on Friday as softer-than-forecast US inflation data tempered expectations for faster Federal Reserve interest rate rises this year. Investor sentiment also got a small boost after US President Donald Trump said he had high hopes of "doing something very meaningful" to curtail North Korea's nuclear ambitions at a summit in Singapore next month. Clear signs of thawing relationships in the Korean peninsula and the prospect of still expansionary monetary policies in most of the developed world helped whet risk appetite, although concerns remained around US-China trade skirmishes and rising tensions in the Middle East. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose for a second straight session to near three-week highs. Japan's Nikkei climbed 0.7 percent while South Korea's KOSPI added 0.6 percent. Australian and New Zealand shares were both up 0.2 percent. On Wall Street, the Dow rose 0.8 percent, the … [Read more...] about Asian stocks near 3-week top, dollar eases after US inflation
