FILE PHOTO: Formula One F1 – Spanish Grand Prix – Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain – May 22, 2022 Red Bull’s Max Verstappen celebrates after winning the race REUTERS/Albert Gea BARCELONA— Max Verstappen was 46 points behind Charles Leclerc after the first three races of the Formula One season and now, three races later, he is six ahead of his Ferrari rival and leading the championship. The fact that Red Bull’s reigning champion has won every race he has finished also emphasizes the importance of reliability in a season of major rule changes and rapid development. Leclerc took 71 of 78 available points in the first three races. He has scored 33 since then. Verstappen had 25 after round three in Australia and is now on 110, his tally boosted by an Imola sprint race that handed him eight extra points. Champions Mercedes were down, and about to be counted out as they wrestled with a bouncing car, and yet Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix suggested George Russell and … [Read more...] about Reliability is key as F1 season takes another twist

An Aston Martin team spokesman said the German had the bag stolen in the city after competing in Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix. “He tried to find it by using his iPhone to track his earphones which were in his bag, but when he located his earphones he found them abandoned and was therefore unable to locate his stolen bag,” he said. No further details were given other than that nobody was hurt. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd died before our eyes as a police officer knelt on his neck for approximately 9 minutes on a street in Minneapolis. Had Darnella Frazier, then 17, not captured the murder on her cell phone and posted it to Facebook, Floyd would have been yet another Black man to die in police custody – a statistic. Instead, George Floyd became a powerful symbol of persistent inequality and systemic injustice against Black Americans and a wake-up call for all. The response was historic – from the scores of leaders making forceful statements every day about racial justice to the $50 billion that U.S. companies pledged (but not necessarily paid) to support Black communities. To understand the complexities of where we stand as a nation, though, look no further than the racially motivated mass murder at a Buffalo grocery store on May 14. In an effort to capture the reality of being Black in America, we decided that we wanted to hear from leaders in the community. Here are … [Read more...] about Two Years After George Floyd, Black Leaders Reflect On Change
