- A + A (Aug 18): Apple Inc is aiming to hold a launch event on Sept 7 to unveil the iPhone 14 line, according to people with knowledge of the matter, rolling out the latest version of a product that generates more than half its sales. The new iPhones will kick off a busy fall product season, which will also include multiple new Macs, low-end and high-end iPads, and three Apple Watch models. Apple is updating its flagship product at a precarious time for the industry. Smartphone sales have begun to flag as consumers cope with inflation and a shaky economy. But Apple appears to be faring better than its peers: The iPhone sold well last quarter, and the company has signaled to suppliers that it doesn’t foresee a dropoff in demand. The Cupertino, California-based tech giant typically announces other products alongside the iPhone, including the latest Apple Watches. Activist shareholder’s plan to sell Bed Bath & Beyond stake fuels rout
- A + A TORONTO/NEW YORK (Aug 18): Five months after disclosing a stake in Bed Bath & Beyond Inc, activist shareholder Ryan Cohen wants out, sparking a sell-off in the shares of the home goods retailer. The Union, New Jersey-based company slumped as much as 29% to US$16.34 (RM73.10) on Thursday, in its biggest one-day drop since last September, after Cohen's RC Ventures said in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it might sell as many as 7.78 million shares of Bed Bath & Beyond, along with some call options. Bed Bath & Beyond shares have been on a tumultuous ride this year with its stock soaring by the most on record when, in March, RC Ventures first disclosed a 9.8% stake in the retailer and asked it to consider a sale of the company. Since then, Cohen reached an agreement on the addition of three independent directors to the retailer's board and pushed for the exit of chief executive officer Mark Tritton. The company … [Read more...] about Activist shareholder’s plan to sell Bed Bath & Beyond stake fuels rout

Artist Shows Evidence ‘Call Of Duty Vanguard’ Stole Their Samoyed Skin Design
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Recently, Call of Duty Vanguard debuted a new upcoming operator skin that was hard to miss. It was a “dog soldier,” a skin with the head of the floofy dog and the body of a man. It initially sparked a debate about whether Call of Duty was getting too “goofy” with its skin designs, but now, a different issue has emerged. Sail Lin, a Chinese artist, claims that the “Loyal Samoyed” skin was directly stolen from their own Samoye Medical artwork that was posted on Artstation two years ago, as part of a larger “Monster Army” concept art series that contains several dog breeds as soldiers but also alligators, tigers and polar bears. This is not just a simple matter of Call of Duty also doing a “dog soldier” concept with a Samoyed head. As pointed out in a viral comparison post on Twitter, which has now amassed 14,000 likes at the time of this writing, Lin highlights direct similarities between the skin and his own art, among … [Read more...] about Artist Shows Evidence ‘Call Of Duty Vanguard’ Stole Their Samoyed Skin Design
‘Destiny 2’ Has ‘Wall-To-Wall Bangers Lined Up,’ Says Bungie
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s that time again, where I collect some Bungie-based hype heading into the next season of Destiny 2. Once again we find ourselves in a similar situation where we know almost nothing about the actual content of season 18, only this time, it’s being revealed in a showcase alongside additional Lightfall expansion info, and the hype train is starting to gain steam. Here’s Robert Schuster, who did the player questline for next season, with my favorite quote about “wall-to-wall bangers” coming up: And Teawrex, former community streamer turned Bungie social systems designer: Here’s Ben Platnick, who makes emotes, finishers and a lots of cosmetics: And of course everyone is hyped about the showcase reveal itself, as per community manager Liana Ruppert: Privately, I’ve been told that people think I specifically am going to like a lot of what’s shown in the showcase, though I do not know any details … [Read more...] about ‘Destiny 2’ Has ‘Wall-To-Wall Bangers Lined Up,’ Says Bungie
‘She-Hulk’ Review Scores Are In, And They Are Stellar
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Yesterday, the Twitter impressions embargo lifted on the first four episodes of She-Hulk, because that’s a thing we do now. Early thoughts were positive, but now today, the real embargo has lifted for full, scored reviews, and we now have a Rotten Tomatoes score as a result. It’s high. It’s very high. While it keeps fluctuating a bit as I write this, my last count with 77 reviews in, it has a 95%, though I saw it at 96% briefly. This puts it near the top of Marvel’s grand MCU score list, which includes all movies and TV shows, though again, it may fluctuate up or down a bit as more reviews roll in. It should be noted that the MCU’s last series, Ms. Marvel, also received sky-high scores at launch, and it remains on top of on this list even after the dust settled, with 269 reviews in. Here’s where things stand now: Ms. Marvel – 98% Black Panther – 96% She Hulk – 95% Avengers Endgame – 94% Iron Man – … [Read more...] about ‘She-Hulk’ Review Scores Are In, And They Are Stellar
