The race to comply with data privacy laws is top of mind for advertisers and marketers these days with things like clean rooms becoming a hot topic seemingly overnight. This is fallout from “the demise of third-party cookies and identifiers” and the data void they’re leaving behind. This means the third-party data they already have needs to be scrubbed clean to not only ensure that consumer data is private ( and protected ) but that it’s also the right data they should be tracking and leveraging for related campaigns. In other words, there’s no reason why a brand needs to have your Social Security number or other personal identifiable information ( PII ) on file, especially if you didn’t give direct, first-party consent for them to do so. New York (CNN Business) The coronavirus pandemic has forced everyone to get creative. Whether through Zoom meetings , online fitness classes or take-out cocktails , companies in nearly every industry are pivoting to get through the crisis. Some work-arounds have been especially creative, such as individual exercise "pods" to get people back into gyms. But beyond short-term fixes, many innovative new strategies and business models have emerged that are likely to stick, even as many jurisdictions begin to reopen in some capacity. In many cases, these transformations are thanks to the increased adoption of technology and the digitization of businesses. Many of these changes were underway pre-coronavirus; the pandemic has just accelerated them. "What's important to customers has changed," John Roese, Dell ( DELL ) Technologies chief technology officer , told CNN Business. Chatbots need to evolve to stay relevant in the age of virtual assistants
Our exposure to chatbots is at an all-time high. From customer service to commerce to healthcare, chatbots are the fastest growing brand communication channel , thanks to their ability to handle issue resolution, remove friction in surfacing common information, and enable self-service to relieve human bottlenecks. advertisement advertisement But the growing chatbot landscape shows signs of fracture. In a recent study, over half of consumers who use chatbots cite dissatisfaction due to the frustration caused by “inconsistent answers” across chat and human assistance, while ranking preference of digital service channels like social media, human chat, and even email over chatbots. A finer point still, 60% of consumers would still rather interact with a human than a brand’s chatbot because of the ability to solve more complex and personal problems. The irony is that a chatbot’s premise to exist is to offload human-to-human interactions while … [Read more...] about Chatbots need to evolve to stay relevant in the age of virtual assistants
What does a hybrid office look like? This company has 5 ideas
Like many companies, manufacturing technology firm Augury ditched its New York City office during the pandemic. With few people coming in, and most work able to be done remotely, paying rent on an empty office was a waste. advertisement advertisement But the need for an office didn’t go away completely, and now the company is fitting out a new space in the city. Here’s Why Apple Has Now Sold 1 Billion iPhones
Tim Cook held an iPhone 6s Plus high in the air. The CEO of Apple had a grin a mile wide, and he has a good reason to be excited. That actual phone--it's the Rose Gold version in the photo above--is the one billionth sold , a milestone few tech companies can boast. "The iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history. It's become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day," he said to a cheering crowd. I agree with every word he said. The reason the iPhone has racked up so many sales over the years is due to one simple reason: The phone works. It doesn't crash, the apps load quickly, you can find what you need, you get your stuff done. Even when new apps debut, like one I've tested called Lola that helps you find hotels and flights, they work without glitches. About one billion people agree with me. I decided … [Read more...] about Here’s Why Apple Has Now Sold 1 Billion iPhones
Why Female Entrepreneurs Welcome The End Of The Girlboss Era—Once And For All
The resignation of Glossier CEO Emily Weiss inspired another wave of obituaries for young, female founders. Nevertheless, they persist—and refuse to be put on glass pedestals again. I n October 2021, Rent the Runway cofounder Jennifer Hyman took her 12-year-old subscription fashion company public at a $1.7 billion valuation, valuing her 5.1% stake at nearly $49 million. The 41-year-old CEO was one of only about 25 American women in history to go public with a company she had founded. But Rent the Runway’s IPO was even more unusual for not only having a female founder but also a female CFO and a female COO. Hyman celebrated the moment on a flowery Nasdaq podium surrounded by the key women on her team, her two daughters and a shower of pink confetti. But for all the femininity on stage, there is one word that Hyman would not use to mark the moment: “Girlboss.” “We've created a false narrative because we looked at two or three examples of women who were building businesses … [Read more...] about Why Female Entrepreneurs Welcome The End Of The Girlboss Era—Once And For All
