India, Sweden can collaborate on efforts to mitigate climate change, says minister

A senior Swedish minister has opined that the US finally quitting the Paris Climate Accord throws up a big opportunity for Stockholm and New Delhi to set an example for the rest of the world on the need for collaborative efforts to meet the challenges of climate change. Swedish minister for business, industry and innovation Ibrahim Baylan believes that such a collaboration between the two nations is very possible because of the many shared values and the democratic framework both the countries operate in. Jammu-Srinagar national highway closed for repair work

The 270-km-long Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for traffic on Sunday to facilitate "necessary repair work", while one-way traffic resumed on 434-km Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal road after remaining closed for several weeks due to heavy snowfall, officials said. Inspector General of Police, traffic, Alok Kumar said vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, was suspended for the day to allow road maintenance agencies to carry out "necessary repair work".While convoys of security personnel were allowed to ply on the highway from both sides-- Srinagar and Jammu, civilian traffic was restricted.The step was taken to ensure that the highway which was damaged by recent landslides in Ramban sector can be repaired and to facilitate the passage of security convoys.Close Meanwhile, the 434-km Srinagar-Leh national highway was reopened for one-way traffic on Sunday morning after remaining closed … [Read more...] about Jammu-Srinagar national highway closed for repair work

Lupin hopes to resolve warning letter on Goa and Indore plants by end of FY19

Lupin on Tuesday said it aims to address the USFDA warning letter on its Goa and Indore plants by end of FY19.“The (remediation) work is well underway, we have engaged several groups of independent consultants, as it stand right now we stand to complete all work by June,” said Nilesh Gupta, Managing Director of Lupin, said in the post earnings conference call.“And then we will go back to (US)FDA and then will follow the process thereafter. US President Donald Trump on Saturday hand-picked Scott Gottlieb to lead US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) – the regulatory agency that approves every food and drug products marketed in America.The appointment is still to be confirmed by the US Senate.Gottlieb, 44, served in several senior positions at the US FDA during the George W Bush administration. He was trained as a physician and is known as a conservative health policy expert with deep ties to the pharmaceutical industry.Gottlieb is also a partner at New Enterprise Associates, a large US-based venture capital firm. The firm’s investments include life-sciences companies.
