May 16, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Student loan debt in 2022 is now more than $1.7 trillion. The latest student loan debt statistics for 2022 show that there are 45 million borrowers who collectively owe approximately $1.7 trillion in student loan debt. Student loan debt is now the second-highest consumer debt category — second only to mortgage debt and higher than debt for both credit cards and auto loans. The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted student loans. In March 2020, Congress responded with historic student loan relief, including pausing federal student loan payments. Both President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden extended the student loan payment pause multiple times. Biden paused federal student loan payments through August 31, 2022. Student loan cancellation has become the hot topic with student loans. For years, progressives in Congress have lobbied Biden to cancel up to $50,000 of student loans. The president has called on … [Read more...] about Student Loan Debt Statistics In 2022: A Record $1.7 Trillion

Student Loan Forgiveness Makes Blue-Collar Workers Pay For ‘Worthless Gender Study Degrees,’ According To Donald Trump, Jr.

May 16, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Donald Trump, Jr. has weighed in on student loan forgiveness — and here’s what he said. Here’s what you need to know. Student Loans Trump sharply criticized President Joe Biden’s potential plan to cancel student loans for millions of Americans. “Biden essentially wants blue-collar workers like truck drivers — who didn't have the luxury of going to college to get drunk for four years — to bail out a bunch of upper-middle-class kids who chose to spend tens of thousands of dollars that they didn't have on worthless gender study degrees,” Trump told The Washington Post. Trump is referring to one major criticism of wide-scale student loan cancellation . As many Republicans have argued, Americans who didn’t go to college or who couldn’t afford to go to college would pay student loan debt for the select few who could. According to the latest student loan debt statistics , approximately 80% of adult Americans don’t … [Read more...] about Student Loan Forgiveness Makes Blue-Collar Workers Pay For ‘Worthless Gender Study Degrees,’ According To Donald Trump, Jr.

Considering professional development? Maybe prioritize this instead

May 17, 2022 by www.fastcompany.com

An increasing number of employers are including professional development goals into the yearly HR evaluation process. At one level, that is a great thing. It recognizes that learning has to be central to career development. But, professional development carries the connotation that there are knowledge and skills that you know you need to learn in order to advance to the next level of your career. Sometimes, it may make sense to focus on personal development more broadly—in a way that is independent of what you need to know to do your job or to smooth your career path. advertisement advertisement There are definitely times when professional development is warranted. Early in your career, there are going to be a lot of gaps between what you learned in classes and the skills you need daily to succeed at work. For example, much of education is an individual sport, while work is a team sport. As a result, you may not have developed a lot of great skills to … [Read more...] about Considering professional development? Maybe prioritize this instead

Biden Administration And Jeff Bezos Square Off Over Inflation

May 16, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline A spat between the White House and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos over President Joe Biden’s fiscal policies intensified Monday, with Bezos accusing Biden of disregarding inflation while the White House claimed the billionaire is looking out for his own interests. Key Facts The argument began over the weekend, when Bezos criticized Biden for suggesting corporate tax rate increases could help ease a severe spike in inflation, a stance the billionaire called “misdirection” and a non-sequitur in a Saturday tweet. Bezos hit Biden again Sunday for his administration’s unsuccessful push to pass the multi-trillion-dollar Build Back Better social spending bill last year, arguing Biden “tried hard to inject even more stimulus into an already over-heated, inflationary economy.” By Monday, the White House pushed back in personal terms, claiming in a statement to several news outlets that Bezos is … [Read more...] about Biden Administration And Jeff Bezos Square Off Over Inflation

Are You Doing Enough for Your Newbies?

November 14, 2017 by www.inc.com

Seems that there's always time to do things over--because we often have no choice. Too many managers keep forgetting that it's a whole lot smarter and much cheaper in the long run to take a little more time at the outset to get things right the first time.  As the tailors all say: measure twice, cut once. In the case of your new hires-- the inbound talent that will ultimately make or break your business-- if you get the messaging and the training wrong at the beginning, these are generally unrecoverable errors. Things will only get worse over time. And keep in mind that "newbies" come in all sizes and ages. Gray hair is a sign of age, not necessarily wisdom, experience, or knowledge that is specific and relevant to your business. If you mess things up at the start, you'll soon enough get to that awful and uncomfortable conversation where someone will ask you about one of the new hires and you'll say "I don't know" or "the jury's still out." It isn't. When you say, "I don't … [Read more...] about Are You Doing Enough for Your Newbies?

Royal Flush: Inside Crypto’s Most Exclusive Gathering

May 3, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin P oker chips, high stakes, and big money. Throughout last week, a few yards away from the Caribbean's largest casino in the Bahamian capital, Nassau, about 2,000 people gathered at the Baha Mar resort’s convention center to discuss cryptocurrencies and the next iteration of the World Wide Web a.k.a Web3. Just last month, a similar albeit much larger crowd took over Miami Beach to pay homage to the invention that started it all—bitcoin. But if the 25,000-person expo in South Florida felt like Coachella for the bitcoin faithful , the latest summit, dubbed “Crypto Bahamas”, inched closer in resemblance to the World Economic Forum’s Davos conference, not minding the casual dress code. Pretty much everyone from CEOs to developers wore flip-flops, sneakers, and t-shirts bearing slogans such as “NFTs are a scam” and “Burnt Finance”. Co-organized by billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried’s crypto derivatives exchange FTX and the … [Read more...] about Royal Flush: Inside Crypto’s Most Exclusive Gathering

Why The Eternal Optimism Of Paul McCartney Never Goes Out Of Style

May 17, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It was 46 years ago Paul McCartney answered his critics and John Lennon, who claimed he often wrote songs that were too corny and sentimental, with the No 1 smash, "Silly Love Songs." In the song's opening stanza, McCartney sings, “You’d think that people would have had enough of silly love songs/I look around me and I see it isn’t so/Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs/And what’s wrong with that?/I’d like to know/’Cause here I go again.” Though McCartney wrote the song somewhat tongue in cheek, like so many geniuses, he turned out to be stunningly prophetic. Because watching McCartney Friday night at L.A.'s Sofi Stadium it was abundantly clear how much the world still needs his silly love songs. The eternal optimism of McCartney, at least publicly, is the ninth wonder of the world. Most perceptive people look at the world, and even before the horrific racially motivated shootings that happened … [Read more...] about Why The Eternal Optimism Of Paul McCartney Never Goes Out Of Style

March 28, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Investing with an environmental , social or governance (ESG) focus has captured the attention of more and more investors and fund managers in recent years, but 2021 marked a major milestone for the strategy. Declaring 2021 to be "the year of ESG investing," Reuters reported in December that the year saw record inflows to ESG-focused funds. Thirty years of ESG investing According to data from Refinitiv Lipper, investors poured a record $649 billion into ESG funds around the globe during the first 11 months of 2021, up from the $542 billion invested in such funds in 2020 and $285 billion in 2019. Ten percent of the assets invested in funds worldwide are now in ESG funds. Clearly, ESG investing is not a fad that will go away anytime soon, but it's also not a new idea.
