Joyce Hartman said she never tires of seeing the spark of recognition that lights up her students’ eyes when they suddenly understand what she’s teaching. It was that way in 1953, when the 21-year-old San Diego State University graduate arrived alone in Japan to teach conversation English to local teens. It’s really fun and rewarding to watch.”Hartman is one of 25 tutors who volunteer up to three hours every Monday with about 40 to 50 adult English learners at the Rancho Bernardo Literacy Center, which has been based at Rancho Bernardo Community Church since 1985. A British family is offering tutors £100/hour ($US130/hour) to teach their “nightmare” children. The family of six has gone through seven tutors in the last year due to their kids’ shocking behaviour. In an advert posted on Tutor House, the father warns that the children have been known to play pranks, like throwing flour and eggs, and even locked one tutor in a garage for two hours. Nevertheless, he says they’re not bad kids – they just need the right tutor. The tutor must have the capacity to work 12 hours a week outside of school times, which equates to an annual salary of more than £62,000 ($US80,000). Some parents have it tougher than others. While some kids will happily read, write, and draw under the instruction of their teachers, others don’t find it quite so easy to accept instruction from authority. One such family in Birmingham, England has gone through seven tutors in the last two years due to their four … [Read more...] about A British family is offering a tutor $130 an hour to teach their ‘nightmare’ children who have scared off 7 tutors in the last 2 years

"Tama naman ‘yon (pagha-hire ng tutor) pero i-encourage dapat ang independence, self-help skills, initiative, tinutulungan natin sila na gawin nila ang takdang-aralin nila on their own," ani Zamora sa "Sakto" ng DZMM. Hindi rin daw maganda ang pagkakaroon ng tutor kung layunin lang naman ng magulang na magkaroon ng mataas na grado ang kanilang anak sa klase. “[Kung] only for the grade ito and not for the learning, paano sila matututo by themselves?” aniya. Tingin niya naman na hindi dapat mabigyan ng … [Read more...] about ALAMIN: Kailan dapat bigyan ng tutor ang anak?
