The country's financial capital, however, recorded zero pandemic-related fatalities during the day. The city had reported 204 new cases on Monday, 327 on Tuesday, 490 on Wednesday, 602 on Thursday, and 683 cases on Friday. Night curfew in Delhi from 11 pm to 5 am amid surge in COVID-19 cases
Representational image The Delhi government on December 26 announced the imposition of night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am in view of the surge in daily COVID-19 cases. The curb will come into effect from December 27, the government said. The health department reported 290 new cases today, the highest since June 10. One fatality was also recorded in the same period. The night curfew has been reimposed as the positivity rate in the capital city has surged past 0.5 percent. It was recorded as 0.55 percent as per the latest update issued by the health department. According to Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)'s four-stage Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), a 'yellow alert' will be sounded if the positivity rates remains over 0.5 percent for more than two days. Representative image In a massive surge, Delhi on January 1 recorded 2,716 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day rise since May 21, and one death while the positivity rate mounted to 3.64 percent, according to data shared by the city’s health department. Saturday’s tally of coronavirus cases was 51 percent higher than the figures registered a day before. On Friday and Thursday, 1,796 and 1,313 cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 1.73 percent and 2.44 percent respectively, as per official figures. The daily case count on January 1 breached the 2000-mark after a gap of over seven months, as 2,716 new cases were logged with an increased positivity rate of 3.64 percent, as per the latest health bulletin. COVID-19 active cases in PH top 40,000 as 4,661 more contract disease – DOH
DOH logo MANILA, Philippines — More than 40,000 people in the country are now sick due to COVID-19, based on the latest data in the Department of Health’s (DOH) coronavirus tracker. It also showed that an additional 4,661 contracted the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,823,084 since the pandemic hit the Philippines in 2020. According to the DOH, the country’s 40,315 current active cases account for 1.07 percent of the total cases, and 3,721,825 patients, or 97.32 percent, have already recovered from the illness. The COVID-19 death toll, however, reached 60,944, which accounts for 1.61 percent of the total cases, as of Friday, as the DOH recorded 28 more fatalities due to the coronavirus.
