The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on June 21 announced the formation of a Venture Capital (VC) Committee with marquee venture funds like Sequoia India, SoftBank, and Multiples Alternate Asset Management, among others as members. The new committee will work on public policy consultations, stakeholder engagement, ecosystem enhancement, and building a strong industry network for VC firms. In a press release, the not-for-profit industry body also said the committee will help in highlighting sector-specific challenges faced by portfolio companies of the member VC firms. Established in 2004, IAMAI is a not-for-profit industry body representing the digital services industry with over 400 Indian and multinational corporations as its members. Singapore Financial Data Startup To Double Down On Global Expansion After Insignia-Led Funding Round
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin B luesheets, a two-year-old Singapore startup that uses AI-powered software to integrate financial data, has big plans for international expansion. The startup last week announced it raised $4 million in pre-Series A funding to accelerate its growth. The round was led by by Insignia Ventures Partners, a Singapore-based VC firm whose other investments include Indonesian tech giant GoTo Group, Singapore-based used-car unicorn Carro and software company Appier , which last year became Taiwan’s first listed unicorn. It also included existing investors 1982 Ventures, Antler, Kistefos AS and Plug and Play APAC. Bluesheets will use much of its newly raised capital to expand into new markets and “double down in international markets where we have a presence,” says cofounder and COO Clare Leighton. When the government announced a vaccination programme for 12-14-year olds earlier this year, Neeta Singh (name changed), an educator at one of India’s biggest edtech unicorns, was excited as she thought she would be back in the classroom after almost two years. Singh said she was very keen to get back to her previous employer, a tutoring company, despite the lower compensation as she wanted to get out of the ‘extremely toxic’ culture at the edtech unicorn she had worked at for almost 15 months. “I am a single mother of two and I cannot stop working as both my kids are still in school. Briefings on the tender for the MRT3 Circle Line, pegged at RM50 billion including interest cost, kicked off two weeks ago. Consultants were the first batch to be called in a fortnight ago. Then, the contractors were briefed last week. Taking place after a period of scarcely any large infrastructure contracts being dished out since 2018, construction companies are understandably drooling over the MRT3 project.
