Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin CNN’s Maegan Vazquez and Donald Judd reported this week the Biden administration has announced at-home Covid testing kits which are purportedly accessible to Blind and low vision Americans. The tests use a companion app, available on iOS and Android, that functions similarly to Apple’s VoiceOver or Google’s TalkBack screen reader. The new tests are meant to help those, like myself, who cannot read the test’s instructions and/or results well, if at all. Alternatively, members of the Blind and low vision community could use a service like the Apple Design Award-winning Be My Eyes . Be My Eyes pairs sighted volunteers with visually impaired people to assist them with understanding inaccessible printed labels such as the expiration date on a carton of milk or, in this case, the directions on how to administer a do-it-yourself Covid test. “We developed this plan in close partnership with members of the disability … [Read more...] about The White House’s Release Of ‘Accessible’ DIY Covid Tests Prove Smartphone Tech Goes Only So Far

We Almost Can’t Believe These Biden Notes For A White House Event Are Real, But They Are

The pamphlet included several possible questions and possible answers. Biden’s mental health has come under renewed scrutiny. Despite Assurances From The White House, Washington Can’t Stop Talking About Replacing Biden
While the White House continues to assure the country that President Joe Biden plans to run again in 2024, concerns over his age and how he’s handled multiple crises are sparking speculation over who else could make a ploy for office. Biden has been plagued with a series of crises since taking office – a disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan, record-high inflation, skyrocketing gas prices, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a baby formula shortage and more. How he’s handled each situation is reflected in his poll numbers, which recently slipped for the fourth straight week, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll published Wednesday. What’s more, concern is growing over Biden’s age. Currently 79 years old, the president will be 81 if he runs again in 2024. Entrepreneur and former Democratic presidential primary candidate Andrew Yang told The Hill on Wednesday that Biden’s “age will be a legitimate issue for many voters,” pointing out that he’s “already the oldest president we’ve had … [Read more...] about Despite Assurances From The White House, Washington Can’t Stop Talking About Replacing Biden
White House Deletes FDA E-Cigarette Regulations
The White House has significantly modified proposed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tobacco regulations, so that the online sale of e-cigarettes is not restricted, Reuters reported Wednesday. Charged with analyzing the economic implications of policy, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) looked in detail at the FDA draft, which had included a prohibition of non-face-to-face sales, in effect banning online sales. OMB changed the language, so that the ban applies only to vending machines. Due to lobbying from the cigar industry, OMB also addressed cigars, modifying the existing two-part rule which separates regulated from unregulated into a two-option rule, which exempts premium cigars. The cigar industry’s concerns were voiced by 24 Republican legislators in a letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg. “As you know, premium cigars are a niche product with an adult consumer base, much like fine wines. The majority of people who enjoy a cigar do so … [Read more...] about White House Deletes FDA E-Cigarette Regulations
White House Scrambles After Biden Promises War With China Over Taiwan
President Joe Biden said Monday that the U.S. is willing to intervene militarily should China forcibly try to take Taiwan. “Yes,” Biden said at a joint press conference in Tokyo when pressed on whether the U.S. would “get involved militarily to defend Taiwan” if necessary. “That’s the commitment we made.” “We agree with the ‘One China’ policy,” Biden continued. “We signed on to it, and all the attendant agreements made from there, but the idea that it can be taken by force, just taken by force, is [not] appropriate. It would dislocate the entire region and be another action, similar to what happened in Ukraine.” (RELATED: US Military Says Chinese Attack On Taiwan Accelerating As Taiwan Threatens War ‘To The Very Last Day’) The White House quickly sought to walk back the president’s comments. “As the President said, our policy has not changed,” a White House official said afterwards. “He reiterated our One China policy and our commitment to peace and stability across the … [Read more...] about White House Scrambles After Biden Promises War With China Over Taiwan

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Topline At least six Republican lawmakers asked the White House for pardons after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to testimony former White House officials gave to the January 6 committee, with many suggesting a blanket pardon for anyone involved with the attack. CNN Dumps More Cold Water On Chances Jan. 6 Show Will Lead To Trump Indictment
A CNN host and guest said Wednesday that the latest revelations from hearings held by the Jan. 6 Select Committee was likely not enough to indict former President Donald Trump. “That does not look good, but I think it’s actually far from a smoking gun,” Laura Jarrett, an attorney and host of CNN’s “Early Start” said on “New Day.” “For the question to be what did Trump say and the answer to be he passed the phone, I think that’s quite attenuated, actually.” (RELATED: ‘What We Need Are Facts’: CNN Legal Analysts Deliver A Reality Check When It Comes To Charging Trump) “This is part of the problem with having this be a congressional investigation instead of a DOJ investigation,” Jarrett said.
