When nations declare adversity onto each other, there is a lapse of time between the declaration of intention and commencement of hostilities. Implementation can take anywhere from months to years. The Brexit discussions are a major example of such conditions. Code yellow conditions are now in place between Europe and Britain. My wife and I visited England to explore the current and future status of the country. Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral, seat of the archbishop, is very British, well attended, firm, strong and uplifting. There are definite advantages to singing one’s prayers. The British production of Jersey Boys was another listening adventure, packed house, lots of fun, energetic singing done well. In London, no signs of fear or concern. St. Martin’s in-the-Field did not disappoint with renditions of Mozart at candlelight by a Russian pianist. Trafalgar square was humming and buzzing late into the night as usual. Sticking together while exercising simple precautions is … [Read more...] about OPINION: Post-Brexit Conditions Have Yet To Become Hostile. Will The UK Remain Peaceful?

While all fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies reported a margin decline in the September quarter due to the high cost of inventory, Britannia’s EBITDA margins expanded to 16.3 percent from 15.5 percent in the same quarter last fiscal. Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Can the Cubs take Dansby Swanson away from the Braves? That would be a huge step forward for Jed Hoyer and the rest of Tom Ricketts’ front office, which has been in retreat mode since declining to extend Joe Maddon’s contract after missing the playoffs in 2019. The Cubs have been widely linked to the pursuit of the big four shortstops. But it is one thing to pursue players like Carlos Correa, Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts and Swanson, and another thing to sign them, especially given the quantity — and quality — of competition in the pursuit. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman does not view the Cubs as one of the top options for Correa, Turner or Bogaerts but ranks the Cubs as a favorite to sign Swanson, with the Braves given a decent chance to retain him. Swanson helped the Braves beat Houston in the 2021 World Series, homering twice. He has hit 54 regular-season and postseason home runs the last two seasons while … [Read more...] about Signing Dansby Swanson Would Speak Loudly For Cubs’ Credibility

- A + A (Dec 3): Russia "will not accept" a price cap on its oil and is analysing how to respond, the Kremlin said in comments reported on Saturday, in response to a deal by Western powers aimed at limiting a key source of funding for its war in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had made preparations for Friday's price cap announcement by the Group of Seven nations, the European Union and Australia, the Russian state news agency TASS reported. "We will not accept this cap," RIA news agency quoted him as saying. He added that Russia would conduct a rapid analysis of the agreement and respond after that, RIA reported. Russia has repeatedly said it will not supply oil to countries that implement the cap — a stance reaffirmed by Mikhail Ulyanov, Moscow's ambassador to international organisations in Vienna, in posts on social media on Saturday. "Starting from this year, Europe will live without Russian oil," he said. The G7 price cap will … [Read more...] about Russia says it won’t accept oil price cap and is preparing response
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin In 1983, six years after Mission was founded, the British loudspeaker maker launched its first integrated stereo amplifier. The 778’s case was narrower than most hi-fi amps of the time and it received acclaim for its build quality and circuitry. Users loved its simple controls and appreciated the good range of inputs. The price was relatively affordable and the sound matched Mission’s speakers perfectly. A year later, Mission launched the Cyrus sub-brand for its amps and, eventually, other audio electronics so that Mission could focus solely on loudspeakers. Therefore, the 778 was the only integrated amp branded as a Mission product… until now. Mission is ready to launch another integrated amp under its own brand. The new 778X shares much in common with its ancestor of 40 years ago. It still features a compact, half-width design with a sound that belies its compact footprint. Like the original model, it has a useful range … [Read more...] about Classic British Brand Mission Unveils First Amplifier In 40 Years
