Viet Nam News NINH BÌNH — The National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival 2018 was launched yesterday in the historical land of Ninh Bình Province. The festival is among a series of events to celebrate the 1050th anniversary of Đại Cồ Việt (the former name of Việt Nam), the first independent nation of Vietnamese people and first feudal state of Việt Nam, founded by King Đinh Bộ Lĩnh, a native of Ninh Bình who also chose Hoa Lư to be the capital of the country. “For more than 1,000 years, the historical and cultural values of the former capital still echo in everyday life with impressive architectural structures,” said Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện. Sleman, Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Government of Sleman sub-district, Special Region of Yogyakarta is committed to promoting the culture and tourism potentials its region through a 2018 100-km Tour de Prambanan event held on Sunday. The cycling activity placed its start and finish points in the Prambanan Temple area, Sleman sub-district. Sub-district Head of Sleman Sri Purnomo stated that the event was held based on Sleman`s local governments` optimism in the potentials of the area`s tourism sector. "Cultural wealth and natural beauty in Sleman Sub-district will be a special attraction for cyclists who take part in the event," he said. Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The East Indonesian province of West Papua is famous for its attractive tourism potential, but has not been managed optimally to improve the welfare of the local community. West Papua is well known for its many scenic landscapes, including Raja Ampat, Arfak mountains, and numerous waterfalls, which continue to attract local and foreign tourists. Hence, the local Culture and Tourism Office is now making every effort to carry out tourism plans to optimize the management of its tourism potential. West Papua Culture and Tourism Office Chief Yusak Wabia remarked, in the provincial city of Manokwari, that the tourism movement seeks to encourage community-based tourism development, in a bid to improve the welfare of local communities.
