(CTN News) – As Tottenham Hotspur take on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium today, they’ll look to get three points before the international break. It is still the north Londoners that are in fourth place, and even though there is only a three-point gap between them and the top two teams, Manchester United and Newcastle United both have two games left in their season. Despite all the chaos and turmoil that have taken place this season, Spurs have stayed focused on the Southampton league and trying to secure Champions League football for next season in spite of the fact that they are out of all cup competitions right now. Meanwhile, Southampton have some problems as well, but they do not seem to be insurmountable. When a team is 22 points ahead of its nearest rival with eleven games to play, it would normally be a death sentence for the club. Is there a chance for a successful season this year, however? It is only five points that separate them from 12th place at this … [Read more...] about Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton: Match Thread And How To Watch

Real Madrid Needs A Karim Benzema Successor. Here Are 5 Candidates Rated.
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Karim Benzema is encountering more injury troubles than usual at this stage of his Real Madrid career. And as radical as it may seem, Real may need to prioritize another striker— from within or outside—if the loyal Frenchman begins to fade. Assuming the 35-year-old stays available after putting the gloss on his team’s 6-2 aggregate win over Liverpool in the Champions League, he will feature in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s short-term plans. He’s the club’s most reliable goalscorer and best complements the other attacking riches—particularly winger Vinícius Júnior, who is quickly cementing himself as the star in the roster. For a club so valuable, it’s incredible that Benzema, Real’s second-highest goalscorer ever, has carried the baton for so long, especially since Cristiano Ronaldo—the most prolific talisman in Madrid white—left five years ago. Brought in to share the load, strikers Luka Jovic and Mariano Díaz have not … [Read more...] about Real Madrid Needs A Karim Benzema Successor. Here Are 5 Candidates Rated.
Why Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur Rant Deserves Empathy
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Even by Antonio Conte’s standards, the outburst was extraordinary. Taking his seat for a press conference after his Tottenham Hotspur side had contrived to turn a 1-3 lead against bottom side Southampton into a 3-3 result, the Italian manager lost it. "I'm not used to seeing this type of situation. I see a lot of selfish players and I don't see a team,” he raged, "we are 11 players that go into the pitch. I see selfish players, I see players that don't want to help each other and don't put their heart [in].” Having castigated his players, Conte turned to the club and its hierarchy. "Twenty years there is the owner and they never won something but why? The fault is only for the club, or for every manager that stay here,” he continued "You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment. "Until now I try to hide the situation but now, no, because I repeat, I don't … [Read more...] about Why Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur Rant Deserves Empathy
Talk Of Liverpool FC’s ‘Mentality Monster’ Decline Is Greatly Overstated
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As a dejected Jurgen Klopp walked purposefully towards the Liverpool FC fans high up in the stands of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium at the end of a 1-0 defeat the contrast to how the two-legged tie against Real Madrid couldn’t have been starker. Three weeks earlier Anfield roared as the Reds raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to Darwin Nunez and then Mohamed Salah. The momentum felt unstoppable and conjured memories of past Champions League routs of Manchester City and Barcelona which had secured progress in previous years. But inexplicably the team imploded. The two-goal lead was surrendered before half-time and three goals shipped after that effectively putting the tie to bed. “We gave all five goals away, all five,” rued Klopp after the game. “In our situation, it is really important we see positive steps and the first half, besides the two goals we conceded, was pretty much the best we played all season,” he … [Read more...] about Talk Of Liverpool FC’s ‘Mentality Monster’ Decline Is Greatly Overstated
Liverpool Need Fresh Faces In The Summer — A Defender Should Be Top Priority
As Liverpool exited the Champions League with a whimper against Real Madrid, many fans are genuinely concerned about their side’s chances of qualifying for next season’s competition. Inconsistency in the Premier League, coupled with a series of long-term injuries across a variety of positions exposed the fragility in the Reds’ depth, and while momentarily masked with the 7-0 thrashing of rivals Manchester United, in all honesty, the two legs against Madrid were nothing short of hopeless. Despite a fast start in which Jurgen Klopp’s side rolled back the years, cruising into a 2-0 lead, there was a sheer gulf in class between Liverpool and Madrid, something that was far more apparent than when they met in last season’s final only last May. The 14-time champions never panicked and essentially killed the tie in the first leg, making the formality of a 1-0 win on their own patch all the more frustrating for the Reds, as Los Blancos barely got out of second gear. A … [Read more...] about Liverpool Need Fresh Faces In The Summer — A Defender Should Be Top Priority

UEFA Want To ‘Make Example’ Of FC Barcelona And Will Pursue Lengthy Champions League Ban – Reports
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin European football governing body UEFA EFA want to make an example of FC Barcelona by banning them from the Champions League - possibly for multiple years - and do not wish to see the Court of Arbitration for Sport veto any such sanction according to a report. UEFA announced on Thursday that it had opened its own investigation into the payments that Barca made to the Former Vice President of the Spanish Technical Committee of Referees, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, from 2001 to 2018. These totaled more than €7 million ($7.6 million) from 2001 to 2018 according to El Mundo , but Barca deny any wrongdoing and have claimed through president Joan Laporta that each payment was made legally for consultation services carried out by Negreira. Culture Trumps Strategy In Digital Health (Except When It Doesn’t, Which Is Most Of The Time)
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin September 2000 marked a watershed moment in modern business history: it was the month that Blockbuster declined to acquire Netflix for a mere $50 million. Today, of course, Netflix has a market cap of $135B, and Blockbuster is dead and gone (notwithstanding the eponymous show currently streaming on… Netflix). For business school students, founders, investors and corporate strategists, Blockbuster offers lessons in hubris and bad company strategy: from ignoring customer preferences to the importance of shifts in technology and business models that facilitated a new basis of competition to an overleveraged capital structure. Of course, it’s easier to analyze in retrospect a definitive, highly visible and high profile train wreck of company strategy than it is to build a company up to the heights and success that Blockbuster had once achieved. It’s also easier to see how bad strategy affects established companies (who … [Read more...] about Culture Trumps Strategy In Digital Health (Except When It Doesn’t, Which Is Most Of The Time)

The Ku Klux Klan, post-partum depression and compassion course through “Amerikin”
At the start of “Amerikin,” Jeff Browning greets his newborn son with a slew of swear words, some loving enthusiasm and more than a little TMI. He confesses to the wee fella that his mother might have a slow time embracing him. (“I’m a little worried about your mom, tell you the truth. She, uh … ain’t been herself since you came out.”) Once they’re back at the Browning home — where much of Chisa Hutchinson’s unsettling and riveting play (onstage at the Curious Theatre Company through April 15) unfurls — it becomes clear that Michelle Browning is struggling with post-partum depression. A lullaby she sings later in the play is wrenching for the dark lyrics she reworks. Her despair is just one of the many things ailing the Brownings. Neighbor and friend Alma wanders over to the house to suggest gently to Jeff that he stop calling out for his dog in the early hours because, well, it’s the early hours, and the dog’s name might, y’know, offend. (I guessed “Adolf.” Silly me.) It’s not … [Read more...] about The Ku Klux Klan, post-partum depression and compassion course through “Amerikin”
