Chinese content-sharing apps such as Bigo Inc.’s Like and Bigo Live, along with Bytedance Ltd.’s Helo and TikTok, are taking off in this country of 1.3 billion, where most people are getting online for the first time using low-cost smartphones and dirt-cheap data plans. Smartphones are the devices that matter, and users can shop, chat, bank and surf the web with one app. The downsides: The government reigns absolute, and it is watching—you may have to communicate with friends in code. And don’t expect to access Google or Facebook. On the other side, in much of the world, the internet is open to all. Users can say what they want, mostly, and web developers can roll out pretty much anything. People accustomed to China’s version complain this other internet can seem clunky. 27 most popular Vietnamese trademarks in 2019 announced Representatives from most popular Vietnamese trademarks in 2019 receive their awards at the event The Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Sai Gon) newspaper hosted a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on January 26 to honour 27 most popular Vietnamese brand names in 2019 selected by its readers. The awarded firms operate in various fields – services, tourism, trading, and real estate, including food producers Vissan, Nutifood, and Vinh Thanh Dat, supermarkets Co.opmart and Big C, tour operators Saigontourist and Ben Thanh tourist, and Vietnam Airlines. Japanese personnel provider enters Vietnamese market Representative from Sunwell Solutions Vietnam Yoshioka Reito (R) A representative from Japan’s Sunwell Solutions JSC said on January 23 that its Vietnamese office officially became operational earlier this month. Sunwell Solutions, with eight years experience in providing human resources solutions, aims to increase opportunities for outstanding Vietnamese engineers working at Japanese firms and develop relations between Japanese employers and Vietnamese employees. Yoshioka Reito, a representative of Sunwell in Vietnam, stressed that although it has been established for nine years with highly technical staff, Sunwell is looking to expand its business to great customers, focusing on key fields such as information technology, automobile technology, and refinery projects.
