This is what has to stop in 2022: using American schools and students as a prop for hysterical posturing. We’ve distanced ourselves, masked ourselves and vaccinated ourselves. We’ve all done what was asked of us. We cannot be conditioned or acculturated to a new ethic of constant crisis. It’s not a crisis. It’s a radicalism of ruin. We need an exit ramp and then we need to exit — soon. My 19-year-old daughter attends a public university which shall remain nameless. She is double vaccinated, boosted and has had COVID. And yet to re-enter her dorm room following Christmas Break she was required to take a rapid test, then a PCR test, and even then, won’t have any in-person classes for at least two weeks. What are we doing? Enough! Stop scaring the children! So many of my colleagues and I are constantly haunted by the same question: what will these students sitting in our classrooms say about these COVID-19 years when they get older? Surely, they will remember the masks and the … [Read more...] about ADAMS: The Cruelties Being Inflicted On Children In The Name Of COVID ‘Safety’ Will Handicap A Generation Of Students

Representative image The end of 2021 brought with it the start of a fresh deluge of daily new COVID-19 infections in India, driven by the Omicron variant. But developments have been such that Reserve Bank of India staff wrote in an article on January 17 that near-term economic prospects had brightened on hopes that the surge in cases caused by the Omicron variant may only be a "flash flood" and not a wave. Numbers clearly seem to suggest so. As has been the case in other countries, there are indications that this phase may be shorter in duration compared to the deadly second wave India experienced in the first half of 2021. The seven-day moving average for daily new cases in India seems to be plateauing within a fortnight of daily new cases crossing the 1-lakh mark. While daily new cases in this third wave is perhaps yet to peak on a national level, certain regions are already seeing a decline. This could hold clues for the county as a whole. "New cases in Mumbai seem … [Read more...] about Has India’s third COVID-19 wave peaked?

Up is down and down is up in the current NBA standings. Clubs that had in previous seasons been among the front runners have struggled this campaign. These outfits find themselves in or near the bottom half of the league in win-loss record. They will need a late surge to secure a play-off spot. Meanwhile, formerly downtrodden teams that had previously resided in the lower portions of the standings have suddenly risen up and currently find themselves sitting comfortably in the higher echelons of conference tables this campaign. A look at the leaders in the Eastern Conference standings finds the Chicago Bulls shockingly in the top spot with a record of 27-15. In just his second season as coach, Billy Donovan has engineered a remarkable turnaround. If you saw the Bulls -- a team that struggled to a 22-43 mark last campaign -- pulling this off, you are probably some sort of wizard from a Harry Potter movie. Nipping at the heels of Chicago in the East are a surprising Miami … [Read more...] about Bulls, Heat vie for East supremacy as downtrodden rise in NBA
