U.S. Regulator Says That Binance Illegally Helped Americans Trade On Its Exchange

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued a complaint against Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world, alleging that the firm put profits over compliance and committed “numerous violations of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations.” Also mentioned were Changpeng Zhao, the Binance founder and CEO, and former Chief Compliance Officer Samuel Lim, who is cited widely throughout the complaint and allegedly orchestrated much of the malfeasance. Today’s filing is the latest in a series of questionable behaviors by the company. However, while the CFTC is seeking disgorgement of profits, civil monetary penalties, registration bans and a permanent injunction against violations of the CEA and CFTC regulations, the long-term impact of this filing is unclear. Specifically the document, filed today in the federal courthouse in Chicago, alleges that the company offered crypto derivatives, … [Read more...] about U.S. Regulator Says That Binance Illegally Helped Americans Trade On Its Exchange

World’s Largest Crypto Exchange Sued By US Regulators

March 27, 2023 by dailycaller.com

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) sued Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, and its CEO Changpeng Zhao on Monday for allegedly breaking trading and derivatives rules. The derivatives regulator said Binance neglected its responsibility to properly register with the CFTC, according to the filing. The agency has been investigating Binance since at least 2021 over whether it has allowed Americans to trade crypto derivatives, as the CFTC rules typically obligate companies to register if they do. Binance allegedly guided American customers to avoid compliance measures by using VPNs (virtual private networks) and other methods, according to the filing. The firm also allegedly hid the fact that they had American customers in their internal documents and data. While Binance.US launched in 2019, Binance.com is illegal for Americans to use, which is why it is only accessible through VPN. Binance.US is more limited than Binance.com, with roughly 150 … [Read more...] about World’s Largest Crypto Exchange Sued By US Regulators

How, When And Where To See A Rare Conjunction Of Venus And Uranus After Sunset This Week

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Next week the brightest planet and the seventh planet from the sun will appear very close to each other in the post-sunset night sky. Venus has been rising into the twilight sky since December 2022 and is now about 36º above the southwest horizon as soon as it gets dark, as seen from the northern hemisphere. That’s about as high as it ever reaches. Uranus—on its slow 88 Earth-years orbit of the Sun—doesn’t appear to move much in our night sky, but nor is it anyone near as bright and easy to see as dazzling Venus. What happens this week is mostly about Venus moving quickly through our night sky to visually “catch-up” on Uranus. Here’s everything you need to know to see this week’s rare conjunction of Venus and Uranus: MORE FROM FORBES See the Hubble Telescope's Jaw-Dropping New Portraits Of Jupiter And Uranus By Jamie Carter When is the conjunction of Venus and Uranus? Taiwanese Music Star Jay Chou Scores The Bestselling Album Of 2022 Globally

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The definitive list of the bestselling albums globally in 2022 has been released, and the No. 1 title is owned by an act that might surprise many…at least those who don’t reside in Asia. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has announced the world's top-selling albums of 2022 in an annual rundown released on social media by the organization. Sitting pretty atop the ranking is Jay Chou's Greatest Works of Art . Although actual sales figures were not released by the IFPI, online sources indicate that the album sold over 7.2 million copies. That’s a serious accomplishment in a world where streaming dominates and sales have largely fallen by the wayside as platforms like Spotify and Apple AAPL Music make accessing music easier than ever. Unlike many album charts, the IFPI’s list only takes into account pure purchases, as opposed to those releases that were the most consumed, which … [Read more...] about Taiwanese Music Star Jay Chou Scores The Bestselling Album Of 2022 Globally

BTS, Seventeen, Stray Kids And Blackpink: The 10 Bestselling Albums Globally In 2022

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin On Monday (March 27), the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) released its annual ranking of the bestselling albums of last year, and the results are somewhat surprising. The list looks globally, and it shows that fans of Asian acts are clearly more inclined to purchase albums as opposed to stream them. In fact, nine out of the 10 bestselling albums in the world in 2022 are by Asian acts, according to the IFPI. Eight of them hail from South Korea, while one more is based in Taiwan. Only one Western act made the cut. Leading the way among the group is Taiwanese singer Jay Chou. His comeback album, Greatest Works of Art , tops the tally. The set reportedly sold 7.2 million copies since its release in July 2022. Chou's achievement is impressive and shows that there is still a massive market for physical purchases, especially in Asian countries where album sales are still significant. Today’s Wordle #647 Hints, Clues And Answer For Tuesday, March 28th

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Well I have to say, yesterday’s Wordle was one of the most challenging words yet on the popular puzzle game . I’d say it’s probably the hardest word since parer, which had plenty of Wordlers stumped last year. I can pretty easily gauge the difficulty of any given Wordle based on how much traffic I get on my guides, and yesterday’s was easily the biggest I’ve had in 2023, and bigger than many since last summer when the game was much more popular. I guess more people need to play as wizards in D&D and get their fireball on! Today’s word isn’t quite as unique or challenging, but it’s still one that took me longer to solve, even though my guessing game really wasn’t that bad. Go figure! Okay, let’s take a look . . . . How To Solve Today’s Wordle The Hint: An ingredient which, along with sulfur, is necessary for a fireball spell. The Clue: There are more vowels than consonants in this word. The … [Read more...] about Today’s Wordle #647 Hints, Clues And Answer For Tuesday, March 28th

Putting The 2022 Stock Market Decline In Perspective

March 27, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jonathan Dash is founder of Dash Investments . As CIO, he is responsible for the firm’s Investment Management and Asset Allocation decisions. Last year's stock market performance was not what anyone would have wanted, but it was to be expected. For those keeping score, it was the largest yearly decline since 2008 . That could be catastrophic for someone who initially invested in January 2022 with just a one-year time horizon. But most investors don't invest for a one-year period. They invest with their sights set on a long-term goal 10, 20 or 30 years out. But even for someone who started investing just three years ago, their average annual return at the end of 2022 would have been 8.22% . For someone who began five years ago, their average annual return would have been 9.11% . A 10-year horizon ending in 2022 would have generated a 12.4% average annual return. You see where I'm going with this. In a … [Read more...] about Putting The 2022 Stock Market Decline In Perspective
