Does ChatGPT Pose A Cybersecurity Threat? Here’s The AI Bot’s Answer

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Does the 100 million user ChatGPT ai-powered chatbot represent a cybersecurity risk, given that it can create malicious code as well as phishing emails? This reporter took the question straight to the machine. Newly published research from BlackBerry suggests that the AI-powered ChatGPT bot could pose a cybersecurity threat. "It’s been well documented that people with malicious intent are testing the waters," Shishir Singh, the chief technology officer for cybersecurity at BlackBerry, said. Singh went on to say that BlackBerry expects to see hackers get much better at using the writing tool for nefarious purposes over the course of 2023. And Singh is not alone: the survey of IT experts across North America, the U.K., and Australia saw 51% in agreement that a ChatGPT-powered cyberattack is likely to happen before the end of the year, while 71% said they thought nation-states are probably already employing the technology … [Read more...] about Does ChatGPT Pose A Cybersecurity Threat? The Secret To Business Success Tomorrow? Accelerating Data Flow Today

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jen Kirk serves as the Chief of Staff of Revalize , a leading software provider building the future of manufacturing technology. As humans, we crave connection. When we are isolated or when our social bonds are threatened, we suffer. We instinctively know we are in trouble in relationships when we aren’t “talking” to each other. Similarly, in a world where everything is enabled by information, disconnected data is a death knell to any business or organization. Recognizing all the digital signals and making sense of them gives leaders the advantage of anticipating their biggest challenges and responding to them in real time. However, to make the most of this data, businesses must eliminate the noise, identify the most important pieces and deliver that information to the people who will act on it to make a difference. This process requires fast, easy and efficient access to relevant information. Through … [Read more...] about The Secret To Business Success Tomorrow? Accelerating Data Flow Today

5 Pivotal Soft Skills Essential For Success In Today’s Global Market

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Some business leaders still believe imposed pressure, iron-fisted leadership and punitive criticism build the organization and the company’s bottom line. Plus, they think if leaders require employees to work longer and harder, the business gets a bigger bang for its buck. I spoke to a CEO of a major corporation who said he was glad his employees were not taking all their vacation days because it saved the company money. What he failed to see was his outdated practices don’t increase profits; they increase stress, which in turn undermines engagement and profitability; whereas, soft skills decrease stress and increase engagement and profits. The Lingering Myth Of Soft Versus Hard Skills A lingering myth links soft skills—such as compassion, trust, empathy, connection and kindfulness—with weakness and ineptness, stigmatizing them as irrelevant and less valuable than hard, technical skills. Experts say that tough business … [Read more...] about 5 Pivotal Soft Skills Essential For Success In Today’s Global Market

We Dumped This 13% Dividend—Time To Reconsider?

February 2, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A few weeks back, bond giant PIMCO trimmed a bunch of payouts from its closed-end funds (CEFs). Which was no bueno for income investors, who buy CEFs solely for their dividends. We don’t own any PIMCO funds in our premium portfolios currently. But readers, who rightfully recognize me as a PIMCO fanboy, have written in to ask what’s up. “Any thoughts on PIMCO recent slashing of dividends? Do you think they will also cut PDI’s dividend?” — John S John, you know me well. Maybe too well! My nightstand currently boasts a copy of The Bond King: How One Man Made a Market, Built an Empire, and Lost It All . (I’m 128 pages in… and would enthusiastically recommend it to fellow fixed-income geeks.) Bond nerd or not, most of us dividend investors do know the “Bond King” Bill Gross. He was Morningstar’s Fixed Income Manager of the Decade from 2000 to 2009. Time To Follow Tesla Executives And Run For The Hills?

[+] by Neoen SAS, near Jamestown, South Australia, on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017. (Carla Gottgens/Bloomberg In late January , I noted that Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk’s executive compensation plan raised significant red flags. Since then, proxy advisor Glass Lewis recommended investors vote against the proposal , which could grant Musk performance-based options worth over $2.6 billion. The red flags haven’t stopped there. More executive departures, more missed production projections, and competitors taking market share have left Tesla’s sky-high valuation with even more downside risk. “Software” Climate VCs And “Hardtech” Climate VCs Are Both Wrong

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Over the course of the past few months it’s becoming clear to me that venture capitalists investing into climate technologies are now decidedly split into two major camps: Those investing into hardware, or as they often will term it, “deep tech” innovations, and those investing into software. This is an interesting split, and you can see why each camp is doing what they’re doing. The “software” investors have a logical mandate for focusing in on this innovation area: It’s what venture capital has traditionally succeeded at. Venture capital is very expensive capital — I like to joke that it’s the most expensive form of available capital that won’t get your kneecaps broken. So if it’s so costly, it should be deployed only where the business model can absorb such expensive capital and scale quickly enough to achieve big outcomes. In other words, capital efficiency. Invest a little bit, and hopefully get a big outcome. … [Read more...] about “Software” Climate VCs And “Hardtech” Climate VCs Are Both Wrong

Career Progress Is A Cure For Inflation. Here Are 5 Keys To Upward Mobility

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As individuals, the inflation problem is largely out of our hands. The only way to solve it is by advancing your career—and your compensation. You can “beat” a higher cost of living by increasing the cost that you are financially able to bear. Of course, everyone wants to earn more money. But it’s easier said than done, and it can be unclear for people climbing the career ladder exactly how to increase take-home pay. The answer to the age-old “make more money” question begins with understanding what the people who search for and promote management talent are seeking. You need to realize what they are paying for in their decision-making process. Answering that question actually requires a bit of reverse engineering—starting with the profiles of people who have already climbed the ladder and modeling your own profile based on theirs. In the late 1990s, I published a book called Secrets From the Search Firm Files: What … [Read more...] about Career Progress Is A Cure For Inflation. Here Are 5 Keys To Upward Mobility

Five Key Criteria To Identify The Right Data And Analytics Project

February 3, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Founder and Managing Principal of DBP Institute . I help companies transform technology and data into a valuable business asset. Today, organizations of all types are looking at leveraging data and analytics (D&A) for improved business performance and outcomes. D&A can provide EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increases of up to 25% according to a McKinsey report. Nine of the top ten innovative companies globally, as rated by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), are data firms. However, despite being data-rich and having high data analytics ambitions, the BCG report also notes many companies are poor in delivering business value from D&A projects and only a few achieve those ambitions. Statistically, only 20% of the D&A solutions deliver business outcomes and 87 percent of D&A projects never make it to production. The reasons for the poor dismal metrics on … [Read more...] about Five Key Criteria To Identify The Right Data And Analytics Project
