Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin A common saying, we have heard is that “Money is the root of all evil.” Surprisingly, that is not the original quote, but like many famous sayings, it’s been misremembered and misinterpreted over time. The original quote is from a Bible verse found in First Timothy 6:10 that says, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” The meaning behind this quote is not a denunciation of money or a prohibition against wealth. Instead, it highlights that having the wrong kind of attitude towards money is what can negatively influence your life. We have seen that most of our clients do not think of their money as evil, although sometimes they have conflicting attitudes toward it. In speaking with clients about how they relate to money, I find that most will fall into one of two groups. They either have what I think of as an abundance mindset, or they have the reverse, which is a scarcity mindset. Personally, I gravitate … [Read more...] about The Power Of Your Money Mindset

Legal Money Laundering: How A German Bank Is Cleaning Tainted Bitcoin And Other Dirty Cryptos
Blacklisted Bitcoin? Frankfurt’s Bankhaus Scheich has a budding business cleaning crypto and getting it back into circulation. J ust before sunset on a chilly Spring day in 2019 armed German special agents broke down the door to the Frankfurt home of a 22-year-old hacker who the government has only identified as Coder420, the developer of a dark web exchange called Wall Street Market. At its peak, the enterprise was the largest of its kind, conducting about €50 million in sales between October 2016 and April 2019, selling everything from cocaine to credentials. At the time of Coder420’s arrest, he had roughly 1,000 bitcoins, then worth $5.5 million. The operation was a huge success. The German state of Hesse, home to Germany’s finance capital Frankfurt, seized 2,200 bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from Coder420 and two collaborators. “It was a classical takedown of a darknet marketplace,” says Jana Ringwald, 41, a senior prosecutor for the attorney general of Frankfurt. … [Read more...] about Legal Money Laundering: How A German Bank Is Cleaning Tainted Bitcoin And Other Dirty Cryptos

In early-stage investing, venture capitalists don’t just evaluate the business opportunity, traction or total addressable market. The traits, ethics and drive of the founder or management team are more important than anything else. However, a study conducted by researchers from MIT, Northwestern, NBER and the U.S. Census Bureau discovered the average age of a founder with at least one employee was around 42. So what does diligence consist of in early-stage investing? It’s a combination of the founder’s experience, market knowledge, and personality and motivation. When It Comes To NIL, Team Goals Trump Individual Ones For March Madness
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin ALBANY — Doug Edert could have never predicted it, but the endorsements kept flowing in. Following St. Peter’s stunning upset over Kentucky at last year’s NCAA tournament, Edert signed a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal with Buffalo Wild Wings. BW3s, the popular restaurant chain, offered fans six free chicken wings if they checked in at an eatery within 30 minutes of a March Madness overtime contest. With his distinctive bushy mustache, Edert held a wing high and posed in front of a table with a smorgasbord of flavors to celebrate the deal. Shortly after, another followed, where Edert earned money through video messages posted on Cameo. We all have things we wish we had known when we were younger: What we would have done differently in our careers and might have eased our minds—if only we’d had the benefit of hindsight. I never set out to be a CEO, but I seized the opportunities I was given and experienced my share of hard knocks, especially in my 20s. All of which has led me here today. Since I can’t time travel and share some hard-earned wisdom with my younger self, this is my love letter to the next generation of leaders starting their careers. If You Work At It, It Will Likely Happen I didn’t have a lot of faith and put a lot of stress on myself. If only I could have had the reassurance that, while it might take time, hard work and patience are rewarded in the long run.
