Biden cleared to resume public events after negative Covid-19 test
Joe Biden - A + A WASHINGTON (Aug 7): US President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 for a second consecutive day, ending more than two weeks spent mostly self-isolating at the White House. The latest antigen test for Biden, 79, came back negative on Sunday morning, presidential physician Kevin O'Connor said in a letter released by the White House. "He will safely return to public engagement and presidential travel," the doctor said. "I'm feeling great," Biden told reporters outside the White House. Biden's diagnosis, including a so-called rebound case after he received Pfizer Inc's antiviral drug Paxlovid, has hampered his political schedule ahead of midterm elections in November, although he has done a series of virtual events. Even before the doctor's letter was released, Biden headed from the White House to his beach home in Delaware on Sunday. On Monday, he and first lady Jill Biden plan to travel to Kentucky to visit communities hit by deadly … [Read more...] about Biden cleared to resume public events after negative Covid-19 test

Tan Sri Annuar Musa (Photo by Zahid Izzani Mohd Said/The Edge) - A + A SERDANG (Aug 7): Those directly involved in the ecosystem for production and sale of palm-based cooking oil should avoid hoarding or rationing the commodity following the setting of its maximum price at RM34.70 per five-kilogramme bottle effective from Monday (Aug 8), said Tan Sri Annuar Musa. "Just because the price of oil will drop, for example, people should not start hoarding. It won't solve the problem," he told reporters after visiting the Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition 2022 (MAHA 2022) at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang on Sunday. He said this when asked about the possibility of irresponsible parties hoarding cooking oil when its price is low, a practice … [Read more...] about Annuar: Do not hoard cooking oil

POV: Yes, there are enough hours in a day—if you manage your time better
“There are not enough hours in the day!” advertisement advertisement We’ve all, at some point, have exclaimed that in exasperation. But guess what: it doesn’t have to be true. Time is one of the most significant professional considerations leaders have as they look to do more and amplify their impact. Cracking the code on time is especially relevant to professionals at a crossroads, those ready for their next promotion, looking to join the C-suite, or scale up their leadership or business. A Stanford study found that productivity per hour declines when we work too much. People who work 70 or more hours a week get the same amount of work done as those who work 55 hours. We all have the same 24 hours in the day, yet some individuals can accomplish much more. But how? Prioritize planning Prioritization is not just about what needs to be done but whether you are focusing your time and attention to work on the most important goals you need … [Read more...] about POV: Yes, there are enough hours in a day—if you manage your time better

‘Little hope’ of saving beluga whale stranded in Seine river
A beluga whale swims between two locks on the Seine river, in Notre-Dame-de-la-Garenne, northwestern France, on August 6, 2022. (Photo by JEAN-FRANCOIS MONIER / AFP) RENNES, France — Hopes of saving a malnourished beluga whale that has swum up the Seine river were receding on Sunday, but rescuers said they have ruled out “euthanasia” for now. The whale was first spotted on Tuesday in the river that runs through Paris to the English Channel. Since Friday it has been between two locks some 70 kilometers (44 miles) north of the French capital. But leaving it in the warm stagnant water between the lock gates is no longer an option. “He has to be moved in the coming 24-48 hours, these conditions are not good for him,” Sea Shepherd France head Lamya Essemlali told AFP. Specialists held out “little hope” for the visibly underweight whale, Essemlali said. “We are all doubtful about its own ability to return to the sea,” she said. “Even if we ‘drove’ it with a boat, that would … [Read more...] about ‘Little hope’ of saving beluga whale stranded in Seine river
