March 20, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Spring is here at last, which means rain and sleet and hail instead of just the white fluffy stuff. How lovely. Someday the sun will shine again. Birds will chirp. The snow will melt and fade into memory. Flowers will blossom. Deer and rabbits will prance through the forest and my dogs will give them merry chase. Fair maidens will sing, perched on high balconies. How To Solve Today’s Wordle The Hint: Not wimpy. The Clue: This word ends with two vowels. The Answer: . . . Well, I feel pretty good about this Wordle even though I once again tied Wordle Bot. I feel like we’re constantly tying these days. It’s weird. In a rivalry like this, one of us should be winning more. This isn’t soccer. Sheesh. In any case, my opening word was pretty decent even if crate only got me a ‘T’ in yellow. It eliminated the ‘A’ and the ‘E’ and led me to my second guess, touch, which I realize now wasn’t the … [Read more...] about Today’s Wordle #640 Hint, Clues And Answer For Tuesday, March 21st

What Is A Design Institution Today? London’s Design Museum Director Tim Marlow Considers

February 14, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “I’ve always been attracted to the momentum of institutions,” begins the art historian Tim Marlow. “I like a busy place. I want to bring different audiences and for them to have communal experiences in a shared space.” He clarifies: “This is what museums do best.” As director and chief executive of the Design Museum in London, a position he’s held since 2019, he’s in a prime spot to achieve this. I’m meeting Marlow at the museum west of the city in Kensington, housed in the former Grade II* listed Commonwealth Institute. A curious building with its place in time, it opened in 1962 to inform and educate about the Commonwealth of Nations. The listing notes say its founding came “at a critical moment in the evolution of the modern Commonwealth out of the old Empire.” Meanwhile, the design and displays conveyed a “sense of idealism and a new start.” It, therefore, feels like a fitting place to be occupied by a museum also … [Read more...] about What Is A Design Institution Today? Political parties boycotting todays meeting are ‘trouble makers’

December 7, 2018 by thethaiger.com

Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan, who is also defence minister and luxury watch enthusiast, says that parties boycotting today’s meeting were troublemakers. Meanwhile, the Thai PM claims the missing political parties were like boxers who refused to abide by the rules of the fight and would not listen to the referee’s explanations. But political scientist says this only points to the junta’s failure in reconciliation efforts that have been constantly highlighted by the coup makers over the past four years. Wanwichit Boonprong says the NCPO has now become part of the problem. General Prayut, who also Chairs the ruling NCPO, says people should themselves decide on what should be done with politicians who refuse to join a meeting that aims to explain the “rules and regulations” of the upcoming elections. Made entirely of Lego, “Water Lilies #1” is a recreation of one of the most famous paintings by the French Impressionist. By choosing Monet, and working with industrial materials and pigments, the renowned Chinese artist and activist wants us to challenge our notion of reality and beauty.
