South Bangkok Civil Court yesterday ordered The Royal Thai Police to pay about 3.4 million baht in compensation for the false imprisonment and brutal torture of a teenager in 2009. Ritthirong Chuenchit was arrested by Prachin Buri Police’s criminal investigation team on January 28, 2009, for suspected theft. During the investigation, police tried to extract a confession from the victim, who was 18 at the time, by putting a plastic bag over his head causing suffocation and resulting in convulsions. Sound familiar? The police also threatened to kill the boy and dump his corpse in the เอาอีตี้ mountains if he didn’t confess to the crime. In other words, they were willing to commit murder over a theft crime. But it turns out the police arrested the wrong man. After 8 years of struggle trying to find the cash to hire a lawyer, Ritthirong filed a civil suit with the Southern Bangkok Civil Court against the Royal Thai Police in 2017 and demanded the police pay him … [Read more...] about Thailand News Today | Court sentences police for torturing teenager

This Is (Probably) The Most Popular Cannabis Content Creator In The World: Meet Dope As Yola
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “I recently got deleted off Instagram, again. I had about 4.1 million followers. My Snapchat was number two in the country, not just for cannabis, but in general: It was Kylie Jenner, me and Cardi B. And then they deleted that also. But in terms of sheer numbers online, my watch time is roughly 70 million watch time minutes a month. So I get in a day what some of the biggest cannabis websites get in a month,” explains Thomas Araujo, better known as Dope As Yola, when asked what makes him (probably) the most popular cannabis content creator in the world. To understand how he got there, we need to go back a decade because, as they say, it takes 10 years to become an overnight celebrity. The Real Grinder Thomas “fell in love” with weed at a very young age, even though he recommends people wait until the legal age in their respective jurisdictions to commence their cannabis journey. He remembers first trying the herb the … [Read more...] about This Is (Probably) The Most Popular Cannabis Content Creator In The World: Meet Dope As Yola
New Jeff Bezos Movie Reminds Entrepreneurs of 3 Key Lessons When First Starting Out
There's a new Jeff Bezos biopic set to be released this summer that chronicles the Amazon kingpin's endeavor to create an online book store that eventually expanded into an e-commerce empire. Curious entrepreneurs may want to tune in if interested in a small taste of Amazon's beginnings . The biopic, dubbed Bezos , attempts to map out the early days of Amazon by following the challenges faced by the entrepreneur, played by Armando Gutierrez, in the aftermath of quitting his job at the New York-based fund D.E. Shaw. Viewers are reminded of the pain points that any young startup founder may face: access to capital, work/life balance, and poor compensation. A media representative for the film says that Bezos is based on Zero to Hero , written by Tashena Ebanks, which "was created for young readers to inspire them regarding entrepreneurship." While Bezos is most certainly not an Academy Awards contender, it does offer lessons for emerging entrepreneurs. Here … [Read more...] about New Jeff Bezos Movie Reminds Entrepreneurs of 3 Key Lessons When First Starting Out
‘Dune: Part Two’ Moves Against ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel As ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Sequel Gets 2024 Date
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Warner Bros. Discovery has announced a slight delay for WB and Legendary’s Dune part Two (don’t panic, it’s just a month later) and a firm release date for an untitled sequel to WB and Legendary’s Godzilla Vs. Kong . The latter made my 11-year-old quite happy (it’s his favorite Hollywood franchise), even if waiting two years (two weeks before Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse ) will be tough. All we know is that A) it’ll again involve both King Kong and Godzilla and B) it’ll again be directed by Adam Wingard. They’ve already played the “Kong and Godzilla fight” card, but a halfway successful buddy cop/private eye team-up comedy starring Mr. Zilla and Mr. Kong (think The Nice Guys with kaiju) would probably make (slight exaggeration) a gazillion dollars. I’m not sure how you make such a film with two non-verbal protagonists. Fortunately, I’m not the screenwriter. And Dune is now in Thanksgiving, but it may be aiming for … [Read more...] about ‘Dune: Part Two’ Moves Against ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel As ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Sequel Gets 2024 Date

8 Books to Read to Celebrate Juneteenth
Juneteenth, on June 19 (marked this year with a day off work for many on June 20), celebrates the day enslaved people in Texas finally learned they had been freed more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, and serves as a more general celebration of Black resilience, accomplishment , and joy. It's long been celebrated by Texans and many Black Americans, but if you don't yet have many traditions to mark the holiday (or if you're in the market for more), why not acknowledge the day with a little reading to get up to speed on its history and significance? Fortunately, historians, publishers, and other experts have plenty of book suggestions for entrepreneurs looking to use the holiday off to widen their understanding of the African American experience. Here are eight great options. 1. The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson Penguin books unsurprisingly touts its own titles as great Juneteenth reads, but this history book is also … [Read more...] about 8 Books to Read to Celebrate Juneteenth

Plus, it’s affordable, since you … [Read more...] about 27 Best Road Trips To Take This Summer

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Rami Zeidan, founder and CEO of hospitality tech darling Life House , is a busy guy. With 60 independent hotels currently under management (and another 40 expected before year’s end), as well as five Life House-branded hotels welcoming guests (and another two slated to open in 2022), the company is harnessing travel’s triumphant return to drive its ambitious agenda. I recently spoke with Zeidan to learn more about what makes Life House tick, and what the future holds for the company post-pandemic. His responses have been edited for length and clarity. Q: How would you explain Life House and its mission to someone who knows nothing about technology? A: Life House’s mission is to make travel more accessible and reliable for all types of travelers.
