The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to Pfizer’s booster COVID-19 vaccine dose for kids aged 5-11 Tuesday. The expanded EUA means all Americans who are eligible to get a primary series of the vaccine are now also eligible for a booster shot. The FDA said kids aged 5-11 can get the booster as soon as five months after their second dose of the initial Pfizer vaccine regimen. WASHINGTON (AP) — US authorizes COVID-19 vaccine booster shot for kids ages 5 to 11. Next step: CDC recommendation later this week. — Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) May 17, 2022 Children have faced a far lower risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19 than adults for the entire pandemic, something the FDA acknowledged in its press release about the EUA. U.S. FDA authorizes Pfizer COVID-19 booster for children ages 5 to 11
LOS ANGELES, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday granted emergency use authorization for a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 through 11 years of age at least five months after completion of the primary vaccine series. On Jan. 3, the FDA authorized the use of a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12 through 15 years of age after completion of primary vaccination. The FDA's decision on Tuesday means anyone ages 5 and older is now eligible for at least one booster dose. "While it has largely been the case that COVID-19 tends to be less severe in children than adults, the Omicron wave has seen more kids getting sick with the disease and being hospitalized, and children may also experience longer term effects, even following initially mild disease," said FDA Commissioner Robert Califf in a statement. "The FDA is authorizing the use of a single booster dose of the … [Read more...] about U.S. FDA authorizes Pfizer COVID-19 booster for children ages 5 to 11
REPORT: Houston Could Hire West Virginia Football Coach Dana Holgorsen
West Virginia football coach Dana Holgorsen might be taking over at the University of Houston. Football Scoop reported the following : Rather than rebuild after two unsatisfactory seasons (by the school’s stated standard), sources said U of H boosters are evaluating all options, including considering bringing in West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen to replace Applewhite. Holgorsen was Houston’s offensive coordinator in the 2008-09 seasons, working under head coach Kevin Sumlin, before moving on to Oklahoma State and later WVU, but he kept two important assets behind in Houston — his home, and friendship with U of H superbooster Tilman Fertitta. Other than from a money perspective, this move makes absolutely no sense. It’s not a lateral move. Going from WVU , a Big 12 program, to Houston is a major downgrade. Sure, it sounds like Fertitta is ready to cut a massive check, but Holgorsen already makes over $3.7 million a year. It’s not like he’s hurting for cash … [Read more...] about REPORT: Houston Could Hire West Virginia Football Coach Dana Holgorsen

How Can I Help? Why ‘Adding Value First’ Is the Winning Formula for Growth
If you have been blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit, then you are no stranger to hard work or commitment. But a great idea and a strong work ethic alone are not sufficient to grow your business. Today your customers have virtually unlimited options that are only a click away, so competing on price alone will not be enough to fuel growth. In fact, the historically tried and true four P's of marketing (Product, Price, Place & Promotion) are all being challenged by a simple winning formula--add value first. What is your gift to the world? What is the one thing your company is willing to give away that both provides value to your customers and illustrates your company's value? If you're Google, that would include everything from Android (its mobile phone operating system) to Gmail. Google's market cap is almost $400 billion dollars, and the majority of its customers have never paid Google a dime. Same goes for Facebook. These companies figured out how to give value to the … [Read more...] about How Can I Help? Why ‘Adding Value First’ Is the Winning Formula for Growth
Global challenges for 2022
Nam Jeong-ho The author is a columnist of the JoongAng Ilbo. Its spread transformed the centuries-old practice of reporting to work into working from home. The international order is not free from the cataclysmic shift. As we move into the third year of the pandemic, let’s take a look at global challenges ahead. Most noticeable is the retreat of globalization and the shutting down of borders, which wreaked havoc on international exchanges and multinational enterprises. Globalization on the political, economic and cultural fronts suddenly came to a halt. The biggest victim of the pandemic was the tourism industry, which saw the number of global tourists drop to 381 million in 2020 from 1.46 billion in 2019. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) estimates the resulting losses … [Read more...] about Global challenges for 2022
