Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is spending a week to teach students the difference between gender identity, sex assigned at birth and sexual orientation as a part of their “Health and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Lessons,” according to an email obtained by the DCNF. Calling Female Government Leaders By Their First Names Is Gender Bias

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There was a fascinating panel at the World Economic Forum today, with the Prime Minister of Poland, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, the Secretary-General of NATO and the Director of National Intelligence from the United States. The moderator was Fareed Zakaria, the host of GPS on CNN. But Zakaria kept calling the women by their first names and the men by their titles. He clearly knew what he was doing, even at one point trying to make an excuse for it, by saying there were two deputy ministers on the panel and he needed to use her first name. Unacceptable. Disrespectful. He could have called her Deputy Prime Minister Freeland . Zakaria of all people should know better, because he has a long tenure in foreign affairs, including having International Politics and Economics, Harvard University and as Managing Editor of Foreign Affairs magazine. Trans ‘Gender Recognition’ Bill Throws Country Into Chaos As Critics Fear For Women’s Safety In Jails, Bathrooms

January 17, 2023 by dailycaller.com

The U.K. government is blocking a draft law in Scotland that would make it easier for people to legally change their gender on government documents, citing concerns that the bill could undermine legislation protecting women, according to The New York Times. Scotland’s Gender Recognition Reform bill would have removed requirements that transgender -identified people need evidence of a diagnosis of gender dysphoria , allowing people to legally change their gender by declaring that they’ve lived as the opposite sex for at least three months. The bill has the potential to create confusion throughout the U.K. regarding sex-specific laws, which U.K. politicians have cited to justify using their authority to overrule Scotland’s Parliament for the first time, according to the NYT. The measure would allow people to legally change their gender at 16 rather than 18 and would replace the typical procedure of providing two medical reports demonstrating gender dysphoria with a simple … [Read more...] about Trans ‘Gender Recognition’ Bill Throws Country Into Chaos As Critics Fear For Women’s Safety In Jails, Bathrooms

Major University Trained Students On How To Be Trans ‘Allies’ Using A ‘Gender Unicorn’

December 13, 2022 by dailycaller.com

Oklahoma State University (OSU) officials provided a training to students that teaches them how to be LGBTQ “all[ies],” according to documents obtained by a watchdog group. The OSU Office of Multicultural Affairs conducted a virtual training in 2020 which taught students various terms to use when discussing the LGBTQ+ community and trained them on what resources are available to transgender students, according to documents obtained by Do No Harm, an education watchdog group and reported by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA). A section of the training was called “Ally Packet: LGBTQ Safe Zone.” The office taught students about gender using a “gender unicorn,” which is a tool used to explain gender identity and expression. It also included a section on “LGBTQ Terminology” which included words and phrases such as “AMAB/AFAB,” which stands for “assigned male at birth” and “assigned female at birth,” as well as “gender confirmation survey.” “Heteronormative” was … [Read more...] about Major University Trained Students On How To Be Trans ‘Allies’ Using A ‘Gender Unicorn’

No, Mr. Potato Head Is Not Gender-Neutral

February 26, 2021 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin It’s not often that Mr. Potato Head manages to make headlines; unless your child is a Toy Story obsessive, the antiquated spud isn’t exactly a hot commodity. But Hasbro, rather remarkably, managed to make the toy the center of attention after announcing that it was dropping the “Mr.” from the Mr. Potato Head brand, in an effort to make sure that "all feel welcome in the Potato Head world." I’m not sure if any customer was ever too intimidated to purchase a Mr. Potato Head based on their identity, but the idea certainly makes good fodder for the culture war. Believe it or not, LGBT activists have far bigger concerns than removing the “Mr” from Potato Head. Of course, the usual suspects took to Twitter to mock the announcement (and to be fair, the way the rebranding was framed is genuinely funny). Call me cynical, but I don’t think corporations are unaware of the fact that in 2021, the mere … [Read more...] about No, Mr. Potato Head Is Not Gender-Neutral

NIH-Funded Study Claims Trans Hormones Improve Mental Health — Despite Patient Suicides

January 26, 2023 by dailycaller.com

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded a study examining the impact of cross-sex hormones on adolescents’ mental health, and researchers claimed to find that the treatment caused improved mental health. While depression and anxiety declined slightly on average, two participants committed suicide, 11 developed suicidal ideation and biological males saw no improvements in depression, anxiety or life satisfaction. “All other psychiatric problems in teenagers are dealt with by thorough evaluation and investigation about the cause of their symptoms. … but for some reason transgender symptoms in adolescents, especially rapid onset, have been treated as an exception, and there are all these rationalizations doctors use to rapidly medicalize these kids,” Dr. Steven Levine, a psychiatrist, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. A National Institutes of Health-funded study published Jan. 19 in the New England Journal of Medicine claimed to find that cross-sex hormones caused … [Read more...] about NIH-Funded Study Claims Trans Hormones Improve Mental Health — Despite Patient Suicides

Holding space as a lesbian trans woman in STEM

Dr A Mani delivering a Women’s Day talk at Homi Bhabha Centre For Science Education, Tata Institute Of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, in 2020. Dr A Mani describes her career as atypical and rightly so. From creating her own world with science and mathematics while reading Pavlovian texts in high school to choosing not to be part of mainstream academia, she has asserted her place in a world that still upholds exclusion of non-conformists. Growing up in Kolkata, Mani was a curious, imaginative child wanting to understand all the hows and whys of the world through science. “I learnt mostly from books and science magazines, and remember doing experiments with chemicals, performing electrolysis, and even making insecticides,” she said. Today, Dr Mani is a research scientist in algebra, logic, rough sets, AIML, and allied areas at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and a senior member of the International Rough Set Society. However, her journey in academia was … [Read more...] about Holding space as a lesbian trans woman in STEM

Court Rules Religious Universities Can Receive Federal Funding While Adhering To Their Faith Beliefs

January 13, 2023 by dailycaller.com

UPDATE: This piece has been updated to include a statement from Alliance Defending Freedom senior counsel Ryan Tucker, who clarified that the case specifically regards religious colleges being able to accept federal funding in the form of financial aid for students. An Oregon federal district court ruled Thursday that students are allowed to use federal aid to attend religious universities that operate according to their religious beliefs. The case Hunter v. the U.S. Department of Education (DOED) was initially filed in March 2021 after 40 LGBTQ former and current students, who had applied to multiple religious schools, sought to amend Title IX’s provision allowing religious universities to discriminate based on sex, sexual orientation or gender identity and receive federal funding, according to the opinion . A judge ruled late Thursday to dismiss the case, effectively upholding the right of religious schools to practice their faith and obtain federal funding. In the opinion, … [Read more...] about Court Rules Religious Universities Can Receive Federal Funding While Adhering To Their Faith Beliefs

EXCLUSIVE: Oklahoma Sen. Jessica Garvin Files Women’s Bill Of Rights

January 20, 2023 by dailycaller.com

Female residents of Oklahoma could see their own “Bill of Rights” become law, according to legislation state Sen. Jessica Garvin introduced Monday. OK SB408, known as the Women’s Bill of Rights, will “bring clarity, certainty, and uniformity” to Oklahoma law by officially defining “female” and “mother” and clarifying the protections for them under the law, according to the bill’s language. If the bill passes, Oklahoma will legally define a “female” as a “natural person whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova” and a mother as a “female parent of a child or children.” Men will not be allowed in Oklahoma women’s “prisons or other detention facilities, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, athletics and locker rooms, and restrooms,” according to the bill. Garvin told the Daily Caller that the Women’s Bill of Rights is a crucial step in protecting female privacy and safety. “There are states where there have been men who have been … [Read more...] about EXCLUSIVE: Oklahoma Sen.
