India Commits To Aggressive Climate Action With International Financing

February 1, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Climate advocates are asking themselves whether the globe can hit its net-zero targets when the developing nations rely on coal to fuel their energy needs. While China and India power their economies mainly using coal, the Asian giants are committed to using far cleaner electricity and ultimately becoming carbon neutral. These are not platitudes meant to quell the developed nations. Achieving net zero is a must — to improve living conditions while reducing climate emergencies and attracting multinational corporations. Asia will remain the world’s biggest consumer of coal, but Bloomberg New Energy Finance predicts it will peak there in 2027. After that, renewables will eat into its market share. “The central government sets the overall direction, and the state governments implement it,” says Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, co-chair Confederation of Indian Industry National Committee. “In this system, we often go two steps forward … [Read more...] about India Commits To Aggressive Climate Action With International Financing

Some Realism About The Transition To Electric Vehicles

February 1, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin There used to be a commercial for a new microwave where, as the pitchmen described its benefits, a skeptical man in the front row kept mumbling, “But does it brown the food?” I often feel like that when observing discussions about the transition to electric vehicles, because so much verbiage sounds like pitchmen extolling a product while avoiding the critical issue: will consumers prefer them in place of conventional vehicles? The next several posts will address this question in some detail; this post will try to identify the factors that are not important or exaggerated in discussions of the issue. The first lesson should be that the past failure of electric vehicles to be adopted does not prove that the technology isn’t viable now, but should raise skepticism about claims from advocates, many of whom also gushed about the previous effort to promote electric vehicles in the 1990s. Those were spurred on by the California … [Read more...] about Some Realism About The Transition To Electric Vehicles

The Best High Chairs Tested To Ensure Proper Seating For Babies And Tots

January 30, 2023 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The best high chairs boast bells and whistles that our grandparents never dreamed of, and yet, the best ones continue to deliver in a few key areas: durability, cleanability and the best positioning for children. After testing 10 high chairs over several weeks and researching many other bestsellers, I found the Graco Blossom 6-in-1 to be the best high chair overall considering how easy it was to clean, adjust, buckle and use. Not only does it support the baby in a proper eating position, but the tray is removable with an easy one-handed motion. Another favorite was the Peg Perego Siesta as the best splurge high chair. If you’re willing to spend another hundred dollars (or $200, depending on sales and colors), you’ll gain a few more features in the Peg Perego, including the ability to fold it for storage and a slightly elevated look. (Read my in-depth reviews of the Graco Blossom and the Peg Perego Siesta .) Then there … [Read more...] about The Best High Chairs Tested To Ensure Proper Seating For Babies And Tots

These 17 cars and SUVs will be discontinued in India from April 1, 2023, Here’s why

December 20, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Representative Image The Real Driving Emissions (RDE) norms coming into effect in India from April 2023 onwards will cause the discontinuation of several cars and SUVs. This new set of emission regulations will measure pollutants such as NOx emitted from a car in real-world driving scenarios, taking into account the frequent changes in speed, acceleration and deceleration. Once the new norms are in effect, carmakers will have to upgrade their engines to lower emissions. The engine updation process will be expensive, especially for diesel vehicles and hence as many as 27 cars and SUVs are likely to be discontinued in the Indian market. RDE norms will require vehicles to have an on-board self-diagnostic device to scan real-time driving emission levels. The device will monitor critical parts such as catalytic converters and oxygen sensors for meeting emission standards. Carmakers will also have to upgrade the semiconductors of the vehicles to scan crankshaft positions, throttle, and … [Read more...] about These 17 cars and SUVs will be discontinued in India from April 1, 2023, Here’s why
