Inside The Byblos Hotel: 6 Reasons You Should Stay At This Saint-Tropez Icon
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin If there's one hotel that's synonymous with Saint-Tropez, it's the Byblos . The sleepy fishing village depicted in the paintings of artists like Paul Signac and Henri Matisse was first put on the map by the 50s movie And God Created Woman starring blonde bombshell Brigitte Bardot. And when the Byblos opened its doors 10 years later, it sealed Saint-Tropez’s status as France’s summer party capital thanks to a cast of A-list guests, from Mick Jagger who celebrated his wedding here, to Grace Jones, Lauren Bacall, Leonardo DiCaprio and Beyoncé, to name but a few. However, the hotel's impressive roll call of celebrity names isn't the only reason you should make the Byblos your port of call when holidaying in Saint-Tropez. 1. An Ode To Love: Immerse Yourself In The Backstory It all started with the French 1956 movie And God Created Woman ( Et Dieu... créa la femme ) starring Brigitte Bardot. UK student conquers mountain in Thailand blindfolded
A Cambridge philosophy student conquered a Thai mountain blindfolded in tribute to his blind sister and to raise money for charity. The 21 year old scholar climbed the treacherous Doi Suthep, near Chiang Mai, with his girlfriend, as he embarked on a three-day journey on July 11 blindfolded to fundraise for a charity that supports his sister Harriet, who was born blind. Smith, from Moreton Pinkney, near Brackley in Northamptonshire, admitted he wanted to tear off the blindfold and witness the natural splendour around him, as he was guided up the mountain by his Eimear Pickstone, but he remained committed to the 72 hours’ blackout, only removing his blindfold to wash his face, his eyes remaining shut. “Seeing the photos later was weird because it was so incredible. It was non-stop sleeping, eating, hiking, swimming, everything, the blindfold was on. “The hardest part wasn’t climbing the mountain, it was having to rely on Eimear for everything – asking her for my bottle of … [Read more...] about UK student conquers mountain in Thailand blindfolded
How 3-Star Chef Mauro Colagreco Is Revitalizing French Riviera Dining
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin When in the South of France, few travelers look past the Côte d'Azur's blockbuster towns of St Tropez , Cannes, Nice and Monaco. But hop on the public train that jostles along the coastline, and you'll be amazed by the diversity of the small towns to explore along the way, each with its own unique backstory. Menton, the very last town before you hit the Italian border just three miles away, is one such place and it’s here at his flagship restaurant Mirazur that three-star Michelin chef Mauro Colagreco’s story took root before being propelled onto the world stage as one of the world’s best chefs. Humble Beginnings To Three Michelin Stars Set on the Mediterranean Sea, Menton has all the French small-town pull you could want: narrow lanes ribboning down from a hilltop church, winding around picturesque squares and stone houses painted sunny yellow, burnt orange and blush pink. There's a daily food market right on the … [Read more...] about How 3-Star Chef Mauro Colagreco Is Revitalizing French Riviera Dining
Vista Lands Iconic Fly-Fishing Brand Simms
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin As all seasoned fly-fishermen know, rivers tend to reach a kind of perfection in the waning light of the day. The drift boats have left the water, wind that foils a back cast often subsides, and the mercury-like water of the river reflects the greens, browns, and yellows of the surrounding grass, brush, and poplar leaves. The magic window starts slowly as trout begin to feed on hatching insects, dimples pockmark the surface as if light rain is falling. Then, the feeding reaches what appears a boiling point that reveals seemingly impossible numbers of fish. Many outdoor pursuits have a golden moment during the course of a day, and for dry fly fishermen—the highest form of the experience—this is it. Too, as any business consultant will tell you, being ready for opportune moments in life is a key part of success—however you define it. For Vista Outdoor CEO, Chris Metz, a part-time Montana resident and avid fly- fisherman, … [Read more...] about Vista Lands Iconic Fly-Fishing Brand Simms
