When the pandemic hit and we all experienced a wave of uncertainty about how companies and jobs would fare in the fallout, workers buckled down and got things done. For many, that meant working longer hours. Remote employees worked an average of 2.5 hours longer per day in the U.S. and UK during the pandemic, according to a survey by cybersecurity platform NordLayer. And a 2021 study published in Nature Human Behavior found that remote workers are staying connected to work 10% longer than pre-pandemic. And the fallout can be serious. Research from Eagle Hill Consulting, LLC found that nearly half of employees are burned out from their work. Bail assistance groups including the Northwest Community Bail Fund, Minnesota Freedom Fund and Bail Project recorded massive funding increases after George Floyd’s death, according to CNN. Multiple individuals bailed from prison with the organizations’ help were subsequently arrested for murder, the outlet reported. “The charitable bail funds, just by the nature of the enterprise, are going to be helping the riskier people,” Columbia University Associate Law Professor Kellen Funk told CNN. Former German police officer found dead in his house in Chon Buri
Photo via Facebook/ กระแสข่าว Police conducted an investigation at a house in the Satthip district of Chon Buri yesterday after the body of a 66 year old former German police officer was found dead in the kitchen. It is believed that the man succumbed to a chronic disease more than 10 days before being discovered. The deceased was identified as German man Scutt Axel, who lived alone in his wife’s house in Chon Buri. His sister in law, a 68 year old Thai woman named Wilai, who alerted the police about his death, explained that Axel was a former police officer in Germany. He married her sister and they had a child together but lived in separate countries. Axel lived alone at his wife’s house while his wife and their child lived together in Germany. Wilai said that she last saw Axel on Monday, March 6, when he visited her house.
