Survey shows travellers accept Covid safety measures but don’t want them forever

July 23, 2021 by thethaiger.com

A survey by the International Air Transport Association shows that most passengers understand the need for Covid-19 prevention measures but don’t want them to become permanent. The IATA survey was conducted on 4,700 global travellers across 11 markets and the findings show that, while people are confident in the safety of air travel and are in favour of wearing face masks, most expressed confusion about the rules, including the cost and uncertainty over testing requirements. TTR Weekly has published a breakdown of the findings as follows: 85% believe aircraft are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected 65% agree that the air in the cabin is as clean as an operating room For those who have travelled since June 2020, 86% felt safe onboard due to Covid-19 measures 89% believe protective measures are well implemented 90% believe airline personnel do a good job of enforcing the measures 83% are strongly in favour of mandatory face masks on board 86% strongly support the rules on … [Read more...] about Survey shows travellers accept Covid safety measures but don’t want them forever

How Employers Are Responding To Challenges Created By Labor Shortage: New Survey

August 3, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The current shortage of workers in North America has forced employers to look for the most effective ways to recruit and retain workers. News yesterday that the number of job openings in the U.S. fell to 10.7 million — down from an estimated 11 million in June—while encouraging, does not mean that the labor crisis will end anytime soon. “Reasons abound for why workers aren't rushing back to the labor market,” according to Business Insider . “Public health concerns continue to fuel caution, especially with monkeypox cases soaring in several cities. Child care costs have sidelined many working parents, and the end of the school year only intensified those pressures in June. Record-high gas prices could've kept some unemployed Americans from seeking work as well.” A new survey released today by WTW, a global advisory and solutions company, shows how companies have responded to the challenges posed by the current … [Read more...] about How Employers Are Responding To Challenges Created By Labor Shortage: New Survey

More Than 75% Of Employees Want To Work For Companies That Support Abortion Access: Survey

August 2, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Amid new restrictions on abortion in at least twelve states , many workers want their employers to take action. New research from LeanIn.Org reveals that most employees under age 40, regardless of their political affiliation, want to work for a company that supports access to abortion. Many of these employees would consider switching jobs to preserve this access. The LeanIn.Org researchers surveyed over 3,000 working individuals throughout the country, and the results definitively show a preference for organizations that support abortion access. Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Meta and founder of Lean In, said in a statement that the research “underscores just how essential abortion rights are for women’s financial security and careers.” She added, “This data makes it clearer than ever: the overturn of Roe vs. Wade jeopardizes women’s health and ability to make decisions that shape our lives and careers.” According to the … [Read more...] about More Than 75% Of Employees Want To Work For Companies That Support Abortion Access: Survey

Sky-High Gas Prices Make Us All Want EVs, Right? Not So, Survey Says

August 2, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Good news seems hard to come by these days, so here’s a kernel of it, free of charge: Gas prices may finally, impossibly, remarkably be on the decline. Months of cringe-inducing trips to the gas station are fading into the rearview mirror, with AAA announcing this week that the price of a gallon of gas has now fallen every day since its peak on June 14 . How long and how far this decline continues remains to be seen, but the record prices at the pump were enough to force nearly two-thirds of consumers to change their driving habits or lifestyle since March, AAA says . We drove less, ran more errands at once, cut back on shopping and eating out, and put off major purchases and vacations to compensate. One thing we didn’t do? Buy more electric vehicles. Autolist.com conducted its annual Electric Vehicle Consumer Survey right in the middle of the surge in gas prices, and asked nearly 2,000 current car … [Read more...] about Sky-High Gas Prices Make Us All Want EVs, Right? FVR, survey friend

August 6, 2022 by opinion.inquirer.net

I salute the late Fidel V. Ramos: a hero of the Filipino people, a very decent person, and a good friend of survey research. Heaven has many rooms, said Jesus of Nazareth; so it surely has space for worthy Protestants like FVR. The 1986-1992 surveys. In the time of President Cory Aquino, the military-coup attempts against her were very unpopular. Cory’s popularity, and of course also that of FVR, was much enhanced by their defeat, whereas the ratings of Doy Laurel, Johnny Ponce Enrile, and Gringo Honasan went negative. Most Filipinos favored the stay of the US military bases, and so were surprised that the Senate said No to their extension. But when the actual departure of the bases in 1991 proved harmless to the economy, the Filipino people changed their minds, and agreed with the Senate (see my “The Philippine Social Climate: From the SWS Surveys,” Anvil, 1994). In four SWS pre-election surveys from July 1991 to April 1992, FVR either led or was tied for No.1. My final … [Read more...] about FVR, survey friend

Photographer: Anindito Mukherjee/Bloomberg The Reserve Bank of India’s surveys have no doubt played a part in the rate hike and in formulating the stance of the Monetary Policy Committee. Take, for instance, the survey of household inflation expectations. While it’s true that inflation expectations have come down, they remain elevated, as Chart 1 shows. The last time inflation expectations were this high before the pandemic was in September 2015, when households were yet to recover from the soaring inflation in the post-financial crisis... … [Read more...] about RBI survey data show upbeat business sentiment, elevated inflation

OPEC agrees to produce slightly more oil as recession fears loom

August 3, 2022 by edition.cnn.com

London (CNN Business) The world's oil-exporting countries have agreed to a tiny increase in output next month amid fears that a global recession will crimp demand. The Organization of the Oil Exporting Countries and its allies — which includes Russia — also known as OPEC+, said on Wednesday that it would produce an additional 100,000 barrels a day in September. This was the first OPEC meeting since US President Joe Biden visited Saudi Arabia last month . Biden urged the country — which is the group's biggest oil producer — to start pumping more. 50 straight days: Long price decline has gas near $4 again For months, prices have climbed as Western embargoes on Russian oil have limited global supply. Those prices have helped the world's biggest oil companies reap record profits , even as millions face surging fuel bills. A gallon of regular gasoline in the United States surpassed $5 for the first time in June, though … [Read more...] about OPEC agrees to produce slightly more oil as recession fears loom

US agrees to US$3 bil Saudi missile sale after Biden visit

August 3, 2022 by www.theedgemarkets.com

- A + A WASHINGTON (Aug 3): The US announced on Tuesday (Aug 2) that it had approved the potential sale of additional Patriot missiles and related equipment to Saudi Arabia in a deal valued at as much as US$3.05 billion, just weeks after an awkward meeting between President Joe Biden and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The encounter came to be symbolized by Biden’s fist-bump with a leader whose kingdom he once labelled a global “pariah” and hoped to marginalize after the killing of columnist Jamal Khashoggi. It underscored the president’s calculus to bring home relief from high gasoline prices and to reaffirm the US role in the Middle East. But Biden departed Saudi Arabia last month without a firm commitment for an increase in oil production that could ease pain at the gasoline pump, saying only that based on his conversations he expects “further steps in the coming weeks”. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies including Russia … [Read more...] about US agrees to US$3 bil Saudi missile sale after Biden visit
