Adam Grant’s 7 Commandments for Successful Hybrid Work

June 16, 2022 by www.inc.com

As much as the likes of Elon Musk may argue otherwise , the data is clear -- hybrid work is not only strongly favored by the vast majority of office-based employees , it also improves work-life balance, retention, and engagement without harming performance. In short, as loud as some old-school executives might howl, hybrid work is here to stay. But just because the data-backed case for hybrid work is open and shut, that doesn't mean implementing it effectively is easy. In the latest edition of his WorkLife podcast , star Wharton professor and best-selling author Adam Grant talks with two experts in remote work -- Stanford economist Nick Bloom and Harvard Business School professor Tsedal Neeley -- to uncover what's required to create a successful hybrid work environment. The trio of world-class experts lay out seven essential rules every leader should follow when designing and rolling out a hybrid work plan for their team. 1. Thou shalt coordinate. … [Read more...] about Adam Grant’s 7 Commandments for Successful Hybrid Work

Phuket officials say local Sunday market rakes in 2 million baht a week

June 24, 2022 by thethaiger.com

Phuket officials say that a weekly market in the island province’s main city district has raked in at least 2 million baht a week this month. A local leader said the famous “Lard Yai” Phuket Street Sunday Market has seen a jump in tourists visiting it every week, now that Thailand is slowly winding its tourism industry up again. The market, running for around 7 years now, with a few Covid ‘interruptions’, has been the island’s most popular fusion of the local and touristy elements, themed in amongst the region’s best examples of sin0-portuguese shop houses. The Vice President of the Old Phuket Town Community said tourists are drawn to the food and products showing Phuket’s authentic heritage. The VP, Somyos Patan, told The Phuket Express… “There are more than 500 shops and stalls at the market where most are presenting signature items of Phuket food and products with music along the road.” Somyos said the market is one of the most famous sites on Thalang Road for tourists. … [Read more...] about Phuket officials say local Sunday market rakes in 2 million baht a week

Storyboard18 | Why are agencies so bad at handling leadership changes and succession planning

June 8, 2022 by www.moneycontrol.com

Given the personality-driven nature of the business, succession planning strategies, particularly on the creative side of the business, are all the more important in agencies. But there are challenges. (Illustration by Suneesh K.) Advertising agencies get rocked and shocked when they are hit by abrupt leadership changes, and don’t typically cope well with these changes, given that the ad business is heavily personality-driven. In 2019, there was practically an overnight change in guard at Publicis Communications in India following the abrupt and sudden departure of its chief. This led to a series of top-level exits in the French advertising network’s operations in India. According to industry executives, the leadership changes were discussed over a couple of days and the new CEO started taking charge with full force, taking on the task of finding the right people for her core team; which was filled quickly. Last year, Dentsu International India also witnessed a wave of … [Read more...] about Storyboard18 | Why are agencies so bad at handling leadership changes and succession planning

Why This Unique Marketing Campaign May Be the Smartest

June 7, 2016 by www.inc.com

MailChimp CMO Tom Klein isn't keen on calling it a " marketing campaign" but admits the online store he and his team created isn't really about selling products created by the company's own customers, either. Instead, he says it was an idea intended to walk in the customer's shoes as well as gain understanding and empathy regarding the pain points involved in setting up an e-commerce shop. Somebody--a MailChimp employee named "Meg"--would then write about it in a quirky new blog intended to help customers and would-be customers avoid common startup pitfalls. Regardless of what anyone wants to call it, it's an experiment which comes off as fresh and fun, if not a bit difficult to fathom. MailChimp Has a Store? MailChimp is an online email marketing solution that offers users things like email templates, custom forms and analytics to track results. So, why would such a company need a store? Check out one of Meg's blurbs: [W]e can't build a … [Read more...] about Why This Unique Marketing Campaign May Be the Smartest

June 21, 2022 by www.forbes.com

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin This month, Deloitte marks the one year anniversary of its $75 million MADE (Making Accounting Diverse and Equitable) commitment to fuel greater diversity in the accounting profession and create more career opportunities. And along the way, the MADE team has learnt valuable lessons that can serve as best practices for other companies aiming to launch successful DEI initiatives. At its launch, the MADE initiative aimed to combine both financial support, and the depth of resources an organization of Deloitte’s size can bring to attract diverse individuals into the accounting field. “The representation of racially and ethnically diverse CPAs in our profession is unacceptably low and bringing these voices to the conversation requires decisive, bold investments.” Lara Abrash, CEO of Deloitte’s US Audit & Assurance business said last year at the launch of the program. Ordering in: The couple who couldn’t cook but started a successful food business

June 24, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, affable married couple Chuah Seet Sheng and Liew Huey Ying were running a fashion retail outlet in a shopping mall. When the lockdown was first imposed and mall traffic dropped to zero, Chuah and Liew knew they needed to do something to sustain themselves. “We were previously in the fashion retail line, selling women’s clothing and accessories. But during the movement control order at the start of the pandemic, nobody wanted new clothes. “We had to keep paying rent and our staff salaries so in the end, we had to cut off the business, because it was too difficult to sustain,” explains Chuah. Chuah and Liew then thought about starting a food business to pay their bills. The biggest problem they had? Neither of them knew how to cook! Liew (left) and Chuah had to give up their clothing store during the pandemic, and despite being neophyte cooks, found a new calling in a home food business. “The main issue we had was both of us didn’t … [Read more...] about Ordering in: The couple who couldn’t cook but started a successful food business
