Netflix ‘actively’ working on ad-supported subscription
PARIS: Netflix is “actively” working on building its cheaper, ad-supported deal, the company’s French team said on June 28, but added there was no clear timeline. It was revealed last month that the streaming platform was planning to introduce a new cheaper subscription model by the end of the year that would break its taboo on advertising. That leak to the New York Times followed news that Netflix had lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of the year – its first decline in a decade. “We don’t have a precise timeline yet,” Anne-Gabrielle Dauba-Pantanacce, head of communications for Netflix France, told AFP. “We are actively working on it. It’s a priority – this idea of giving subscribers more options in the context of high inflation,” she added. - A + A KUANTAN (June 29): Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (Pernas) has channelled RM8.3 million to-date through the Business In Transformation (BIT) programme as an incentive to develop more local entrepreneurs. Acting chief executive officer Mazlan Ibrahim said the programme, which was introduced in 2013, has created 2,000 pre-franchise entrepreneurs which provided job opportunities to more than 4,000 people. He said the BIT programme is a small entrepreneurs' business transformation programme focusing on franchising and has so far registered 184 brands, and Pernas has projected to develop another 22 pre-franchise entrepreneurs this year. “To enhance BIT, the pre-franchise financing package has been increased from RM25,000 to RM50,000 to enable aspiring entrepreneurs have a better business concept,” he told reporters after the launch of Mini BIT Expo (BITe) here on Wednesday (June 29). - A + A KUALA LUMPUR (June 29): Cypark Resources Bhd denied allegations made by a viral report circulated in various blogs and websites that the company is concealing information deemed pertinent to public investors. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Cypark said the anonymous article, titled “The Mystery of Cypark Resources Berhad”, is ”irresponsible” and contains “wrongful, inaccurate and/or false accusations or information”. Founded in 2018, the nonprofit runs an art residency on the 28th floor of 4 World Trade Center . Like other organizations with similar goals, Silver Art’s mission is to support artists who are being priced out of the city. Silver Art provides free studios and mentorship to a select cohort of artists; to date, more than 50—ranging from painters and visual artists to photographers and sculptors—have participated.
