Hundreds of AMU students protesting against the amended Citizenship Act clashed with police on Sunday at a campus gate, leaving 60 injured. After the protest, the adminstration announced closure of the university till January 5.Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Registrar Abdul Hamid said the police entered the campus late Sunday night and clashes were reported from inside. A Delhi court, on December 16, will pronounce its verdict in in the case of alleged kidnapping and rape of a woman by expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kuldeep Singh Sengar in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh in 2017.During the in-camera proceedings, District Judge Dharmesh Sharma had said that he was likely to pronounce the verdict on December 16 after conclusion of hearing of final arguments by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the accused in the case.The judge heard the case on a day-to-day basis from August 5 after it was transferred to Delhi from a court in Lucknow based on the Supreme Court of India (SC)'s direction.Close The woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by Sengar in 2017 when she was a minor.
