Bibigo's meal kit samgyetang [CJ CHEILJEDANG] There is a Korean proverb that says even a tiny grain of sticky rice on the lips feels heavy during the dog days of summer. As temperatures shoot above 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and the humid, steamy Korean heat begins yet again, even just stepping outside, or, yes, having a grain of rice stuck on your face, can be irksome, and many can’t help but feel the weight of the weather. For the country’s ancestors who had to endure such heat without the virtues of modern technology, they fought it off with an even hotter soup: samgyetang , otherwise called Korean chicken ginseng soup. The locals’ belief of i yeol chi yeol , or “fighting fire with fire,” is still very relevant today as samgyetang eateries in Seoul fill up even on the hottest days with people of all ages, breaking a sweat as they wolf down the chicken soup with the hope of reinvigorating themselves. A typical samgyetang dish consists of one whole … [Read more...] about Beat the heat Korean-style with a bubbling bowl of samgyetang

Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin We are having a Goldilocks moment in American media. We simply can’t decide how much truth we really want. Too many lies can lead to expensive lawsuits, as Alex Jones proved this week with a $49M verdict for spreading misinformation about Sandy Hook. Too much truth, on the other hand, can lead to lawsuits by special interests afraid to have infamous stories made famous, as hundreds of writers have learned ( including this author). Is a healthy midpoint actually possible, or would the news simply lose all meaning? Or can we as consumers bend the news back towards the truth? Jones’ story should be a clarion call for both the right and the left to demand more truth from their storytellers. The future of democracy depends on it. Too Many Lies Last week, Alex Jones was caught lying about the Sandy Hook massacre . On December 14 th , 2012, 26 people were killed by a mass shooter , including 20 children between … [Read more...] about Alex Jones Begs The Question, What’s More Expensive For Media: Lies, Or The Truth?
Scene from “Mars Ravelo’s Darna” Three years since she first began working on the latest version of the action-adventure series “Mars Ravelo’s Darna,” and with it premiering on the small screen next week, lead actress Jane de Leon confessed that she has yet to personally discover the answer to why she deserves to portray the iconic Filipino superheroine. “I share the same sentiments with my bashers, who kept asking the question, ‘Why her?’ That’s what I have been asking myself, too. With all the more popular and extremely talented women in the industry, why did God pick me to play her for this generation? I recently decided to just surrender everything to Him. I know that everything happens for a reason, so maybe I will discover that before we finish working on the show,” Jane told reporters during the recent grand launch of the series directed by Chito Roño. Jane said she was also aware that her portrayal of Darna, and the alterego Narda, will be compared to the performances of … [Read more...] about Why latest ‘Darna’ the ‘woke version,’ according to Jane de Leon and series nemesis Janella Salvador
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin David Moyes said his West Ham United side weren’t prepared for the way Manchester City set up tactically against them on the opening weekend of the 2022/23 Premier League. In some ways it was a new look Man City, but despite Moyes’s surprise, many aspects of Pep Guardiola’s team remain the same, or at least similar to things they’ve done before. The unexpected twist, according to Moyes, was Guardiola returning to a formation in which his full-backs drift into midfield rather than overlapping down the wings. The two more advanced midfielders, in this case Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, can then join the forward line with the wingers staying wide, creating a shape that looks like 2-3-5 in attack . It’s a system Guardiola has used in the past, but it was especially evident on Sunday. An even more noticeable change for City in this 2-0 win was the powerful Norwegian striker leading the line, making his first … [Read more...] about Haaland Slots In At Manchester City As Guardiola Reverts To Inverted Fullbacks
