Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The incredible smells of thick steaks cooking over a wood fire fueled by grapevines encourage drool to form at the guests’ mouths as they eagerly wait in anticipation for a meal of a lifetime. The large centuries-old kitchen had festive Spanish music playing in the background as the multi-course meal with free-flowing wine brought everyone along a journey that was a magical dining experience. Friends at first sniff: People smelling alike do hit it off
INQUIRER.net stock images WASHINGTON — It’s often said that people who click right away share “chemistry.” This expression could be true in the literal sense, according to a new study published in the journal Science Advances on Friday, which finds people with similar body odors are more likely to hit it off as friends. “Nonhuman terrestrial mammals constantly sniff themselves and each other and, based on this, decide who is friend or foe,” wrote a group of researchers led by Inbal Ravreby at Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. Since people seek friends who are similar to themselves, the team hypothesized that humans may smell themselves and others to subconsciously estimate body odor similarity and judge their compatibility. To find out, they set about collecting samples from pairs of same-sex, nonromantic friends who described themselves as having clicked at first sight, that is to say “where a sense of friendship was formed before extensive biographical information … [Read more...] about Friends at first sniff: People smelling alike do hit it off
India At G7 | Expectations from and support for India will rise rather than fall
(Representative image: Shutterstock) We need to look at India’s presence in the forthcoming G7 summit on June 26-27 beyond the positive hypes and negative hopes set by domestic constituencies and global narrative peddlers. On its own, there is nothing exclusive about this invitation. Apart from India, the German presidency has invited Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal, and South Africa to the summit to be held at Schloss Elmau, Bavaria. Yet, if some folks take Western pressures seriously (we don’t), India is expected to be on the back foot because it did not toe the G7 line and stood its own on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The dominant narrative today is that India needs to be punished. So far gone are these voices that global news agencies have forgotten basic journalism. They are mixing wishful thinking with facts, using the convenience of unnamed sources as cover. When they report that “ Germany is debating whether to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Group of … [Read more...] about India At G7 | Expectations from and support for India will rise rather than fall

Tuba Club, South Of France’s Coolest Spot, Gets Hot New Resident Chefs
Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin “Keep on going straight down until you can’t go on anymore. You'll reach a very small village; it’s like it’s the last village before you reach the end of the world. The land just stops. And then it’s just sea,” says Pierre, the taxi driver who picked me up from Marseille train station. As we zip along the craggy coastline south of France's second largest city, he tells me a little bit about Les Goudes, where I am headed, which is a district of Marseille tucked in the Calanques National Park, a huge rocky stretch scattered with coves that extends 200 square miles along the sea. We stop before Les Goudes village in front of a small glass door with pastel pink lettering indicating I’ve reached Tuba Club , the restaurant with rooms that's become a go-to for well-heeled travelers since it opened in summer 2020. The small clapboard building is combed with a corrugated roof like icing on a cake.
